I’ll let you know when I do that one on my meme forge guard build at 300 corruption. I only just hit 200. I couldn’t care less about 500.
That IS content… What does content look like to you if not that?
The game is starting to get some QoL and modern tool to make the gameplay more fun and actually playable with this 1.1 patch, but i will not call it a new cycle if you can get all the content in the legacy realm, and so having basically really few reasons to start a new character in the cycle, and this is a problem, a problem that also Diablo 4 will face for the first time with season 5 if will not give the people a real reason to throw away hundred and thousand of hours in the previous seasons with some unique impactfull mechanic.
EHG have tried with the delay of the pinnacle boss, but it’s not enough, and how we can already see, the peak concurrent player on steam it’s still the release day of 1.1, something that Mike already said was below expectations and that was expacting a rise in the week-end, but sadly it’s not happen, even worst is the revenue rank on steam, already in the down phase compared to the firsts days.
For a healthy games are needed fresh new players, but with some gatekeeping and not user friendly machanics, and with the lack of real reasons to play in the cycle, this will not happen, as many said, also a simply seasonal pass as diablo4 and Poe will help a lot, and in general a revamp in some graphic, the market looks like it came out of a web page from the early 2000s.
The single, solitary, entire reason for the creation of cycles/seasons/leagues/whateverthefyouwanttocallit was predicated on the concept of a ‘fresh start.’ That’s it. That’s the primary bone.
If you don’t want to go after it. No problem, you’ve got legacy. If you do? Great, you’ve got a fun chance to do it with other people who enjoy that.
Adding gimmicks and tricks to entice people to ‘do it’ is only for those people who couldn’t care less either way but the extras sound like fun so, sure, what the heck, let’s do season.
D3 was a train wreck at launch. It took until RoS for it to ‘turn around’. LE is no where near that train wreck example and they’re still adding core mechanics to the game (at least through 1.4). Not only that they’ve proven again and again how much they listen to the community on all sides and come up with interesting and unique ways to introduce mechanics and still keep it at the core game that they wanted to make.
Love it. But then again, I’ve never expected perfection in the guise of how “I” would do everything. I was critical of the Evade feature when first announced, but after going deeper into monos with my pure melee character, it’s the single biggest asset they’ve ever created to help an in-your-face fighter style of combat. Is it perfect? No, but I suspect, and why I’m 100% still behind them, they’ll continue to strive toward that never reachable goal.
