Please allow the Disable Chat to work in a way that doesn’t allow chat to be seen in game.
Please have it in settings so that I don’t have to constantly set it up every 2-5 minutes of gameplay. I just simply want that bloody chat window to disappear!
I would love to switch over to OFFLINE but this aspect is not like the single player mode D2 had… I’ve been warned that in this game there is still a chat function. Yet, I would not be able to play LAN settings with my family.
To tell you the truth I am simply NOT interested in socializing online… been there done that in D2 and World of Warcraft almost two decades ago and don’t have the slightest interest to get dragged into a cesspool of depression.
ill just say that I know its a bug but its really making it hard to play.
Its a bit different then going “well its early access so expect bugs” no one should be subjected to chat they dont wanna see. its a lot bigger issue then people seem to realize imo.
Im 100% fine with gameplay bugs, that happens even in full release games, but this one subjects me to shit I dont wanna see like slurs and arguing about which game is better and all kinds of other shit that I shouldnt have to block 100 players to make stop.
I really hope we get a fix very soon for this or its gonna make me probably not play until its fixed. its just really distracting when your trying to game and randomly your text box moves and its “fuck XXXX” or someone talking about “well game is shit cause X”
The words stay visible for literally 2.5 seconds. If you don’t want to read it, then just don’t look at it. There is nothing worth looking at in the lower left other than chat, so if you don’t want to see it, don’t look. You’re acting as if someone is holding a gun to your head, demanding you read the chat just because it’s visible, and that it’s ruining your fun.
There is so much going on on the screen during monoliths and dungeons that if you’re taking time to read chat you have no interest in, I gotta wonder how long it takes you to finish said monolith/dungeon.
If your complaint is that you can see it while sitting around doing nothing, the same solution applies: just stop looking at it!
Sadly this entails that people actually read the posts and/or search for a potential already asked question. I find that capability to be greatly lacking in the general population.
100% agree with this part. While it’s not going to prevent me from playing because I’ve now actually gotten into the habit of the moment my character loads, I just click the check box off and back on the moment my character loads in. It’s definitely annoying to have to do it, but not a game breaker for me, is what I mean.
But, I’m also an old fart. It boggles my mind some of the stuff people feel they can just willy nilly talk about in what is essentially a public space. TMI used to be a joke, now it just seems to be the thing to do.
Thank you for informing me.
Now that I think about it, It wasn’t bothering me so much previously. It is the linking objects in chat that annoys me in gameplay. Seeing the unique or legendary name in the corner of my eye and realizing it was chat LOL.
The human eye/brain is attracted by motion & change so stuff appearing and disappearing is bound to make people look in that direction, some more than others possibly. I know that when I can see a message on zoom on my work machine it bugs the #### out of me until I’ve seen what it says.
Bit of a thread necro but how is this still an active bug? This is one of the most annoying things to deal with while trying to play personally, I’ve blocked idk how many people just to try and not have to disable/reenable the “disable chat” option every single zone. Honestly I wish I could just full stop disable the entire chat ui interface as it’s completely worthless for me.
