Disable affix UI when shattering runes are selected

I’m sure we’ve all done it; I have just spent over 10 hours trying to find gear, figuring out the crafting system, reading guides. I finally get a brilliant roll on my chest gear. Craft it to exactly what I needed. 4 forging potential left and I decide to increase rank of one of my reforged stat.

I corrupt my last set piece and then shatter it to get the reforge shard I need. Brilliant.

Back in goes the awesome chest I just made. Click the affix I want, select the shard. And… Poof. Gone. WHAT?!

Yep - I didn’t remove the shatter rune and instead destroyed an item I spent in excess of 10 hours trying to farm.

Please can this be reworked. At a minimum, if a shatter rune is currently selected, the UI to add/increase affix shards should be disabled. This would prevent you not realising a shatter rune is currently selected. There is no situation where you would do both.

In a perfect world, this should be moved to either it’s own UI (multi-select shatter would be nice), or over to an NPC window - like the vendor present after every echo run.

Please help us not have hours of progress wiped out because of UI design.

Easiest fix (as in, less development time) would probably simply be to remove the rune if you click on any of the affixes to be increased/added. Probably even remove any rune that is currently equipped. Same if you equip/switch a glyph.

As for multi-shatter, that is also a good idea. Something like getting a small window to place multiple items (similar to when you place sets to shatter, or uniques for the LP reroll) and then shatter all at once.

It would also be nice to get rid of the shattering rune entirely and just let us shatter anything at will. Early on you have few shatterings and little gold to buy them so you’re afraid to use them but very soon during monos you already have way more shatterings than you can use and way more gold to buy them than you ever will, so what’s the point, really?

Full concur with all your points; I had the same discussion in global chat the other day myself.

Whatever it takes to prevent this would be ideal - I’m so gutted to have lost an item I spent so long trying to get hold of.

I’ve got myself to blame, but would be nice if the UI could help me stop acting as stupid as I actually am

The issue is that there needs to be some sort of “failsafe” system. We have Runes of Corruption, and Runes of Weaving that prevent us from trying to use another Rune which shouldn’t be able to be used on certain items, but this needs to be expanded. There have been many times that I, and I know others, have accidentally shattered an item that we REALLY didn’t want to shatter.

Confirmation boxes are used in many places and should be used for something like this that can leave you in a rage. It can be something that you can click an option to not use (like the Prophecies Reroll).
