Did something change with auto-casting and casting animation?

I played hundreds of hours back before online came, and often played a Lich with Wandering Spirits set to auto-cast via num-locking. I don’t recall any issues from back then, but now I’ve returned to the game, it seems that Wandering Spirits got a small casting animation that very briefly interrupts movement when it auto-casts?

Is this a new thing?

Is there anything I can do about it (other than disabling auto-casting), as I imagine it’ll kill me at some point where I needed to get out the fire.

Thanks

You disqualified it pre-emptively, but the only real answer is actually to stop trying to auto-cast with numlock. They do not want auto-casting to be a thing that people do, and while they’ve said they prefer to incentivize not-autocasting rather than disincentivize autocasting, you should expect that you’re not going to get any support for playing that way.

Ah OK. I thought auto-casting had the devs’ blessing. Shrug.

It’s windows functionality so the only thing they can really do about it is design skills that benefit from active use rather than just being cast on cooldown.
