I fully understand Tier Lists are not the end all be all.
However, the Maxroll HC Tier List for Season 2 shows all S and A tier builds are just Sentinel builds. Additionally if you check Bossing, Leveling etc… pretty much the entire A tier is all Sentinel as well.
Seems like Sentinel may be overtuned, if it’s currently coming across as the overall most powerful choice across all content?
I’m not a fan of feeling like if I don’t play a particular class, I will be significantly underpowered - and fear that balance will be around that OP class.
That’s for Hardcore, and it makes sense seeing how tanky in general sentinels are. If you look at other tier lists, there are a lot of other builds in S rank. For example Speed Farming has Umbral Blades Falconer, Ballista Falconer, Tornado Shaman and Torment Warlock in there.
Also, those are Maxroll staff builds only. None of them made a Flask Trapper Falconer so it’s not on any of the tier lists, even though its a very good speed farming build, that got buffed in 1.2.
Yeah, I called out that the HC tier list and other tier lists differ. However, even in the other tier list the A tier is pretty much fully all Sentinel builds. So, Sentinels are S/A tier for HC and A tier for all other content… that’s extremely heavy skewing of balance if that’s actually true.
It seems like the list is all of the builds played by Maxroll staff during their closed testing of 1.2. Since 1.2 had a lot of changes to Sentinel, it is highly likely that they were testing the new Sentinel things rather than pushing older builds that may be better than the new Sentinels or have gotten better due to other changes like health buffs, set crafting, etc. I think it would be best to wait and see through the entire community reaction how strong Sentinel will be compared to other classes.

If you look at the archived version from October, you’ll notice that A tier was populated primarily by Mages, Rogues and Acolytes, plus exactly 3 Paladin builds. Today, there’s zero Mages, Rogues and Acolytes in the A tier. So perhaps you should be asking what happened to them
But let’s have a quick look at the archived Sentinels. We have:
S-tier Shield Bash
A-tier Judgement Aura
A-tier Holy Trail Javelin
A-tier Bleed Hammerdin
In the new version:
Shield Bash moved down to A-tier - despite receiving no nerfs and still being one of the tankiest Sentinel builds.
Bleed Hammerdin moved to S tier which makes sense, Paladin was buffed in general.
Holy Trail Javelin Paladin disappeared from the list.
Judgement Aura Paladin also disappeared from the list.
So yeah, what you see is only a slice of the whole pie, and also a very subjective thing.
In my opinion, Sentinels being up there in S-tier and A-tier places in HC isn’t a sudden change, but rather a standard thing.
Bingo it’s time for Sentinel to go from worst class to best. Let them have fun for once.
That maxroll tier list is hliarously bad. They are even wrong about the sentinel builds and S tier.
There will be plenty of MEME builds doing crazy things this season with the power creep and gear options. There will be S tier builds (1k+ corruption in every class)
Then their list is a head scratcher because bleed hammer isn’t tanky and neither is judgement.
I don’t know who made this list but it’s bad. Vengeance FG with 2hand and shield using either titanheart or the new tech with Mantle of the Pale Ox where 24% damage goes to Manifest armor will be HC king. It’s basically immortal in end game gear all while doing some silly damage.
Maxroll list is incredibly generic, sadly no thought at all put into it.
Everyone should be extremely optimistic about so many build options this season. I’ve spent more time then I’d like to say looking at the new gear, set crafting and builds and you will be able to kill Uber Abby with MEME builds.
There are so many ways to build now and people aren’t thinking about Champion gear either. I’m telling you things are gonna get nutty with so many interactions. It’s not possible to experiment with everything there will be builds that emerge no one thought of.
If they were I’m disappointed in this list.
Just looked at both their S tier builds and it’s not really abusing any new tech. Nothing is endurance threshold stacking or using any of the new huge damage reduction tech.
I would suggest to ignore tier list for LE. As far as i know (after playing 14th characters) most builds can reach emp monolith with little issues. For pushing high corruption, there might be some builds excel for certain reasons / factors.
New changes to Sentinel, thus the hype, like example i am a forgeguard lover, just by adding 2 handed weapon with shield is gorgeous for me.
High corruptions level also depend if your gears are min/max.
Game is for fun, so just choose which fantasy class / build you like and try to pursue endgame with the grind / craft / Auction Hse etc. I thought that should be the fun of it which LE bring alot to the table especially this coming patch.
Every games would have their meta builds etc, but i must say to compare all, LE has a decent balance in term of classes.
And people would love if you can kill Abby / uber Abby with a build that is not even in the list. Maybe slower, maybe not as efficient, but hell yeah you are the person that can do it with that specific build.
Dude who cares what someone put on a website , JUST PLAY THE GAME,
HOPEFULLY one day people will stop caring about what others think and just think for themselves and play the game for fun, as in what the game is made for.
Max Roll is increadibly good at making bad builds and buildguides look good.its pretty much the same with tier lists. Good for leveling but for endgame i would look elsewhere
