When playing the game, I seem to constantly run into an issue where my client seems out of sync with what’s actually happening in the game. I can still move my character, and some monsters that were on screen will be visible. My character will attempt to cast skills and do some animations but the skills will never display or go on cool down. My health and mana might drain randomly as I walk around and I assume the monsters I can’t see are hitting me as I do so. If I try to zone into another area it will just get stuck infinitely loading.
This issue happens quite often. I might make it through a zone or two in the campaign and then get stuck and have to quit and relaunch the game to continue and likely lose a bit of progress because I couldn’t zone into the next area with a teleporter. I’ve only found 2 solutions to this issue. The first only works sometimes, but I basically disable my ethernet port in windows for just a second then turn it back on. When that works, the game kinda looks like its fast forwarding through everything that happened while I was out of sync and then its back to normal. This doesn’t work consistently though. The other solution I’ve had to resort to is just using a VPN.
Since that seemed to work I thought it might be DNS related but the issue persisted using 8.8.8.8 and 1.1.1.1. Something with the game just doesn’t like my internet connection through Xfinity or somewhere else along the chain but I have no idea how to identify what that might be. I play a lot of other games and the only other game I’ve ever had an issue with is Guild Wars 2. Every other arpg or mmo or just regular multiplayer game seems to work fine. I’ve seen other posts like this with similar issues but they all seemed to be auto closed.
I don’t think I’ll get anywhere calling my ISP as I imagine they are going to say its an issue with the game. I don’t know if that’s true but if it isn’t I’d love to know that to tell them so they could fix it and hopefully anyone else experiencing this. If there’s any sort of networking tests I could run or logs that might help identify the issue I would be happy to run them.
