As much as I despise the lithe efficient killer look the new reaper form has. Instead of a glowing green baddy the boisterous acolyte deserves to be. Not even the silliness that she wields two scythes instead of three Zanpakutō in her Bankai form. This thread was created for a different reason. Every update they neglect core balance issues in favor of getting features into the game, and this one is no different.
Everyone already knew reaper form was op, and no one will even hesitate to tell you why. Reaper form gets two scythes. Acolyte can’t dual wield . Not only is it the only skill that allows you to dual wield, but unlike other forms of dual wielding it actually adds durability. The model and animations doing no work to prevent this balance issue from ever being fixed is a major problem EHG yet again neglected. Typical
My only suggestion is that you make warlock able to wield an axe or dagger in offhand. Else lich be the only playable option for melee acolyte for years to come since it’s hard to get base damage on harvest.
I mean unless this was a PVP game, I personally don’t buy the idea that anything is necessarily “OP.” I wish people would use the language of “fun to play” or “not fun to play.” That’s really what’s at issue in a single player game. If something is useful enough that it trivializes the game, that might not be fun to play, depending on how interactive and interesting what you’re doing is. It might also be fun, as with Necro, because what you’re doing is chaotic and that makes it enjoyable.
However, I agree with you. There’s a lot of useless items and useless spec’s that are super cool and interesting and they basically don’t get to do anything lategame because it’s too hard to cobble together the various stats needed to use them. That’s something that could use addressing across the board. Primalist has a LOT of corners on it like that which need rounding off.
While I agree completely, it is clear that Reaper form should be using proper European swords 'cause they’re infinitely superior to Japanese blades. Both in terms of metallurgy & badassery. Scythes (singular or plural) are too cliche for an avatar of death. Maybe a pillow would be more unexpected.
