Dancing Strikes - Windmill Ballet

Windmill Ballet is the node that gives you a 25% chance to throw shurikens with the 2nd and 4th attack.

My feedback on this node is there is no circumstance it is worth taking. If you are throwing spec it doesn’t throw shurikens enough to work out. I have personally tried this. If you are melee spec you aren’t scaling throwing and they don’t do anything when they proc.

I suggest improving Windmill Ballet. Obviously more proc chance. Something so it throws shurikens reliably. A downside would also be appropriate. My two proposed alternatives:

Dancing Strikes second and fourth attack have a chance to throw Shurikens in target direction. Shuriken chance: 25% per point invested. Max 4 points.

Dancing Strikes second and fourth attack throw Shurikens in target direction but deals 50% less melee damage (multiplicative with other modifiers). Shuriken chance: 100%. Melee damage: -50%. Max 1 point.

Buffed to 30%. Still a garbage talent. I’ll say it again. It is never worth getting unless its reliable. Scaling melee: not worth the point. Scaling throwing: it doesn’t throw often enough to be worth it.

The nerfs to the buffs provided by DS actually exacerbated this. Before the More damages would have made half the attacks throwing ok and a decent spec idea. As now it would need to throw shurikens on every attack to be worth trying a dancing throw style.

Suggested fixes remain mostly the same. Make it a multi point investment to get to always throw or nerf the melee hits to enable always throw. I’d even be ok with both if it would enable a dancing throw build.

Agreed, theres no reason to take this node, however if Shuriken Bladeshield was buffed to allow them to continually hit targets for their whole duration this node wouldnt be bad as you would have 3-5s to reproc them

One thing you can try is Shadow Daggers with Dancing Strikes, tested for 5 minutes earlier on my Sync Bladedancer with significant melee/phys damage/670ish crit multi and 3x approx 70% total Shadow Dagger effect idol when it procs was doing 48-52k on the dummy, the idols boost the damage from 27k so significant, but you only can really use Puncture/Dancing Strikes as they proc 100% per hit, you could probably make a build around it

I’d go with a bleed or poison build, honestly. You scale dot damage which works with both thrown and melee hits, and take the shadow node so that shurikens thrown are replicated by the shadows. Then pick also the shuriken tree and boost their dot potential. I feel like it has the potential to deal pretty good damage. I would honestly use either the nova or the shield nodes. nova for clear alongside shadows and shield for extra dps, although I have no idea how will shadows interact with the shield shuriken node.
