I agree, damage received across the board has been raised to inappropriate levels reserved for the nose bleed edge lords. I also agree that formulaic copying of a mold like POE is disappointing and VERY MUCH want to avoid “souls” like gameplay. Real life adulting requires I “dodge” enough I dont want it in my gameplay also. Something I got frustrated with early in my experience of LE that I didn’t know how to put into words, but the concept of a hack n slash turning into “Dance Dance Revolution” triggered me. I am not so insecure that I need to inflate my ego to have “mad skills bro” and have that some how makeup for tighter game mechanics or good character designs. These kind of games are interesting to me if they are intellectually stimulating and or offer power dynamics with discovery and adventure. Please dont do development trope drugs.
This season is giving me the exact same aggravations that S1 did; maybe even more, to be honest. I’m holding out hoping that if/when my AoD/Flay Lich gets to Empowered Monos that I’ll actually have a character that can survive and advance. My main 2 characters from last season, Spriggan Druid w/Cold minions and Dancing Strikes Rogue, are both getting their collective asses kicked when they used to beat most of the challenges, excepting only bad mods on Rares/Champions.
I’m only playing an hour or 2 daily now, sometimes not even that much. The game reminds me too much of POE when you got to Maps (getting a migraine just thinking about it).
If you want to belive in something go to a church . I have a very simple mindest. I work with official information. As long as EHG isn’t laying out their plans for balance and their balance goals I use the last statement a dev made and think to myself that they aren’t able to deliver for whatever reason.
Never even bothered to go fo uberroth because the game get’s boring to fas… at least for me. IIRC Uberroth is 500C or was this Abbaroth? I’m pretty sure though uberroth was 500C to start the fight and Abbaroth was 300C.
Where is this disproving anything? Between 500C and 1k C+ is a lot of numbers.
I never thought we fight we just have completely different views on things. I keep people by their words and you construst your reality through whatever evidence. On top of it I want EHG to fonaly move and to put out a statement about their balancing goals. I don’t want them to enforce this tomorrow but there could be a plan that states XYZABC corruption is our goal untill an expension (or whatever) hits and changes stuff up. Untill then I stick with the official feedback that EHG is constanly messing up for whatever reason and not able to stick to what their devs say for whatever reason.
Giant rat jumped me and oneshot me while I play a class that get’s a lot of power from having only half maxlife and maxward .
This is EHG balancing stuff . Without clear goals you can’t balance a game and introduce such things… as if the testers and QA sat on their hands.
I must say I was quite shocked by how much extra damage everything was doing. I didn’t really notice until I got to empowered mono’s.
I normally play trade but decided to go CoF this time around so I put it down to having inferior gear, I’ve sinced upgraded my build through farmed items and crafting and am doing OK at 9/10 harbingers and pushing upto 300c.
I wasn’t sure if they’d overturned the damage, or it was a build issue, or perhaps a bit of both.
EHG WTH?? Honestly this is kinda embarrassing on the communication front here, team. Why is this info buried in a reddit thread but zero mention of it here on the OFFICIAL LE FORUMS?? People quitting the season over these kinds of issues and crickets here on EHG’s side of communication…
DISCLAIMER: I have no idea if this is considered “official” but from what I understand, for some unimaginable reason, reddit seems to be the most supported source of communication…
"ehg_trasochi
There’s currently a bug with scaling enemies to area level that causes them to deal a lot damage than intended, especially when being scaled to a level similar to or lower level than their base level. It also causes them to deal more damage than intended when being scaled to a higher level, but the effect is more muted.
The harbingers’ base level is 100, compared to the 1-60 of most regular enemies, so in empowered timelines this bug affects them much more than it does most enemies.
Patch 1.3.1 will include a fix for this bug and is scheduled for later this week."
PS EHG - It turns out, you did need those testers you decided to axe IMO.
They could easily put an announcement post(like they did for Aspirant’s Arrival nerf Upcoming Bugfix (Nerf) - Frost Wall (Aspirant's Arrival)) and link it on Reddit+Discord. No idea why they haven’t since this is a much more major issue that effects every player.
Ok, I don’t want to drag this out anymore. We’ll each have our opinion.
Yes, you need 500c to place the Uby echo. However, not a single build that farms at 500c can kill Uby. In fact, plenty of builds farming 1k will still struggle with Uby. Most builds still can’t kill Uby, even though most builds can easily reach 500c now.
So yes, the woven echo says minimum 500c, but the way Uby was designed (on purpose, by their own admission, where they said that only about 1 in 100 players that kill Aby would kill Uby, so you can take that as the last info on the subject) you have 0 chance to kill him unless you farm at least 1k.
Again, last official statements are all fine, as long as evidence doesn’t contradict it. If the government says they will never increase taxes and then they increase them, I don’t go with their last official statement but with their last official action.
Anyway, I don’t want to drag this discussion any further. We clearly see this very differently. So we’ll just agree to disagree.
Discord would be the most supported one (it even gets announcements that don’t make it to the forums), reddit a close second. Forum is a far third. They read it (or have some people on the team reading it) but they rarely communicate here.
The patch did include that. But I expect some things are still overtuned.
Two , 3rd party sources. They need a PR guy asap
Just want to clarify this is not my saying. I was quoting the reddit post. Additionally, the patch that’s not out, included this change? Sorry, not following what you are saying here?
Yes, that one.
I was under the impression that they already released something about this. I distinctly remember seeing that in one of the patches. I guess I’m wrong.
I think I might have seen that written by some dev in some reply and I got that confused as part of the patch notes.
The official information is this game is balanced around 1k corruption. You are just wrong and ignoring every fact laid out for you… Dying on this hill is fine but it’s a foolish hill to die on. It’s now how we improve or fix the game.
Can we drop this side discussion and fix the game before everyone quits this season please.
This is NOT balance, it’s the opposite. It’s completely unpredictable and makes trying to play frustrating. This is very unbalanced and broken.
You got a link to that? I can accept/agree that the game is effectively balanced (kinda, kinda not) around 1k, but that’s not the same as the devs explicitly saying that (words v actions & all that).
I kinda disagree because the devs have said that Uberroth isn’t intended to be killed by everyone, it’s pinnacle content that is only killable by a few % of people who’ve killed Abby. So if that is the case then they can’t be balancing the classes around 1k, or at least they haven’t yet.
I suggest that people who want to discuss this topic create another thread. I don’t want to link anything or rekindle this discussion here. It’s off topic at this point and taking away from the core importance of the OP and damage spikes which is causing people to quit.
Lets focus on the topic, the misteps this season and hopefully EHG doing some emergency patches soon to fix everything. Or this season will be the shortest lived season in history and dead in a week.
I never have quit LE 1 week into a season but I’m just really saddened at the state of the game which I highlighted above.
Fair, but if the damage spike/higher damage is caused by the monos having a higher level than before (because there’s chapter 10 in between the old end of the campaign & the new start of monos), I dont think that’s a misstep, that’s EHG rebalancing the area levels (& balance doesn’t seem to be EHG’s strong point sadly) & that’s not going to change, if its because of mobs being affected by a bug, that’ll be fixed.
Yeah, I never buy into the “this league/gaem is daed” viewpoint.
Which is fair enough.
You can PM it to me if you wish. Otherwise it comes across as another one of those subjective things that you think are objective.
It’s not, though. That just affected regular monos. The spikes can be felt in the campain as well, but most especially in empowered monos.
The cause was disclosed up there:
In a game massively starved for top-end content with it being the only goal after Aberroth (which is vastly below the top-end of builds reaching out) and no distinct cut-off lines present as well as created as a copy-carbon basically of the boss formerly… I would argue that it’s their own fault for ‘it’s intended to…’ versus ‘it is’.
The path of hell is paved with good intentions. Intentions never helped anyone, they’re solely there to reduce blame when something goes awry. Doesn’t change the state something is in though.
But @AbombDaChamp is absolutely right here… the situation is not ‘what exactly is the terminology of the sude-stuff’ but on 'how can it be fixed.
And that’s fairly easy said even… wide-sweeping balance pass. Not this piecemeal atrocious ongoing state we have since… basically ever. They need to do the GGG ‘we throw everything overboard’ style change and do it as often and as severely as needed… up until they fail completely or it finally is half-decently fixed at least.
Yeah, that was the bug I referred to in the final sentence of the paragraph you quoted.
True, but if you can’t agree on the problem, or the scale of the problem then you’re never going to agree on a solution.
Yeah, that’s fair.
It’s not, has nothing to do with mono’s being higher level. Damage spikes/bugs are at the start of the game and progressively get worse. I’m being hit in 100 corruption what I used to get hit for in 1,000 corruption which is causing a jarring experience when your build just gets deleted for no reason.
Also keep in mind tons of players reporting just getting dumpstered in the early campaign for no reason. I died at level 3 because something from somewhere did something it shouldn’t of.
New players are confused on is this build just bad or does it get better? The answer is no.
- The Season mechanic is random 1 shots.
The massive misstep is nothing was tested. They shipped a bugged unbalanced patch that is in Beta which detracts from the good they actually did do. It’s caused my excitement to play this season and theorycraft builds to WHY bother. Which isn’t a feeling I’ve ever had playing this game and people I talk to also feel the same.
I went from the usual I’ll play LE for 2 months and create a bunch of builds and level 100’s too I think I’m going to play PoE 2 on launch day and just wait for LE season 4.
EHG made many missteps with this Season and it shows and it’s why player retention unfortunately will be disasterous. EHG has a lot to work on and think about for their next season. I say this as a HUGE EHG fan and am not saying this to take any shots at them. I want this game to get better, improve and have 100,000’s of players enjoying it.
That’s how they do it. Everyone should know that this forum is just existing for news post and not much else. Seems like they are unhappy with or noone want’s to interact with their playerbase drectly. I won’t be suprised if the steam discussions have the same, or even more, informations and responces then here. But pinky promise they read and value everything .
True but my next question then would be: Why is it at 500C if it is not intended to be done at 500C? It would be equaly stupid for me personaly if you had to have a Pit 120 famr char to do world tier 4 bosses in D4. Makes no sence at all to. My head instantly wents numb when I see this.
Sure I get it fam more then to go back to do the boss is a thing if you need to compensate but having a 500C where you need to farm doubble the amount (or even more) C to be able to do it on the intended level screams incompetence from my point of view.
I guess you can farm in the 500C range for a longer time to get qualy good gear as if you farm 18271C so technicly it would work out somehow but this could be solved easiely for me.
Let’s say the tell you the corruption numbers and say 500C is endgame and we are looking forward to how much more corruption can be pushed untill we get the balance right. Instead of telling “We are constantly messing up!” in short.
I get your point I just have a different mindset when it comes to this. Funny part… all it needs is a statement on the state of balancing and what they aim for to stop all the hypothetical balance discussions but we get nothing from them. For a lack of better wording… I don’t do mental gymnastics for EHG to cover their mess when it comes to Balance and tell people “It’s obvious, forgett the statements they made they are out of date and not true anymore because hey what do the devs know!”.
aye
source? All I know is the last official mention of balancing said “if people reach 4 digits C we messed up.”.
Oh sorry I forget to point out the irony. Sometimes it’s not well delivered in written words. I said for a long time that if was WHG I would be ashmed about the balance of the game.
That is a very valid point. It’s very misleading. Much like Aby was in 1.1. True, you could access him at 300c, but he was a 500c+ fight at that point.
The official answer from Mike was “You definitely won’t be able to kill him at that point, but we wanted to give players the option to have fun trying, if they want. And maybe, if you’re a very good player you can actually kill him.” or something to that effect.
Personally I think it just misleads newer players. They are farming 600c, place a supposedly 500c echo and then get pummeled in seconds.
EDIT:
In this specific aspect, I definitely prefer PoE’s approach to the Maven fight. You get progressively harder fights in progressively higher map tiers. When you finish the 10 way, you may not be ready for Maven, but you are definitely somewhat close.
