Curse Spell Damage not same as other types of spell damage?

It’s my first time using an item with +XX curse spell damage.
With or without it, my spell deals same amount of damage.
It’s a spell with fire tag. +XX Lightning Spell Damage item can boost my spell but +XX Curse Spell Damage does not.
So, Curse Spell Damage is not the same as other types of spell damage?

It’s not. Curse spell damage is more akin to Lightning Blast spell damage or Fireball spell damage. Meaning it only affects the damage when the left part matches. In this case, when it’s a curse.
