Critical strike avoidance results

According to the game guide:
The critical strike avoidance stat grants a chance to cause critical strikes to become normal hits instead. This chance is rolled after the attacker’s crit chance. If an enemy has 30% critical strike chance and you have 50% critical strike avoidance, the enemy will effectively have a critical strike chance of 15%. Critical strike avoidance caps at 100% and gains no additional benefit afterwards.

What I understand is that total cri chance% * (1 - cri avoidance%) = actual cri chance, which upgrades gears to have higher cri chance to cover the cri avoidance, so that makes cri chance keep above 100% for always cri.

Lets say an echo has a 33% cri avoidance for enemies, having 200% total cri chance is still non-cri for several times(tested). Which meaning the 33% avoidance is always there, no matter how much cri you have, correct?

Can anyone help to solve the math here?

You are wrong about how the mechanic works. Critical avoidance is rolled after the crit already happened. When the enemy has 30% crit chance, they will crit 30% of the time, you have 50% chance to avoid the crit that already happen. Thus having 100% critical avoidance always avoids the crit, regardless of the value of the crit chance.

Same is for when the enemy has 35% crit avoidance and you have 100% crit chance. Your attacks always crit, but the enemy makes 35% of them into none-crits. However all that calcuation gets busted by Crit vulnarability, which and correct me if I’m wrong, trumps crit avoidance. Crit vulnarability reduce Critical Avoidance by 10% per stack and stacks 10 times, effectively reducing 100% crit avoidance at 10 stacks. Thus if the enemy has 35% crit avoidance, 1 stack of crit vulnrability reduces 3.5% of their crit avoidance.
Fortunately mobs do not apply crit vulnrability on players, so having 100% crit avoidance would always negate critical hits on you.

ah! the first sentence already solve my question, thank you!

quote: Crit vulnarability reduce Critical Avoidance by 10% per stack and stacks 10 times

once I saw that Crit vulnarability add critical chance by 5% actually a +5% base cri chance, I also wonderring may that be - 10% critical avoidance? ( 35% -10% =20% instead of reduces 3.5%)?

I’m reading it from https://www.lastepochtools.com/ right now.

+2% Chance to Receive a Critical Strike (that’s base crit chance)

-10% Critical Strike Avoidance

It says reduces critical strike avoidance by 10%. To be fair I don’t know if it’s 10% base or by 10% from the existing value. I have always assumed it was the latter.

nice. thx that helps
It keeps on changing.

It’s probably a flat 10% reduction to their crit avoidance stat. So if they have 100% crit avoidance then normally you would have 0% chance to crit them but if they also have 2 stacks of crit vulnerability (for -20% CSA, sorry, can’t be arsed typing it out) then they would “only” have 80% CSA. But I’ve never tested it.

I also take it as - flat 10, tho.
