So , to start I am not sure Gold is going to be a great trading currency , maybe it will work maybe not either way I think I have an interesting idea.
What if Glyphs could stack on a craft. Hear me out now.
Lets say you use a glyph that reduces the chance it will break, and it brings your item to 90%. what if you could use another glyph at the same time to bring it to 91% or 10 more to bring it to 100%? or a 50% item you could spend another 50 glyphs on for 100% chance. This means on super important exalted items you find you COULD spend a lot of glyphs to guarantee the outcome. This will in turn make glyphs be a very valuable item making it the perfect item for trading. It can currently be semi target farmed and I feel like you could go through 100’s on a single item alone.
The main problem here is you could then always guaranteed to get max rolled tier 21/22+ in every slot.
Guarentees are to strong in an RNG game.
I do agree though that gold being the main form of currency in trading (if thats even what they plan on doing) wouldnt be the best, but i mean it could work. After all, everything in RL is based around a Single form of currency (Granted its value changes based on location)
I definitely agree with this. The only way to “balance” that guarantee is to drastically reduce the drop rate of the glyphs that allow for such guarantees.
Steam says i have 460 hours in game, i would say maybe 60 of those are from not closing the game and passing out.
I have 1300 of one glyph and 1600 of the other glyph in that time. I really don’t do alot of t19/20 item crafts as I play a lot of different characters. Maybe i would have more if i focused higher corruption.
I feel like one or two items would use all of these glyphs i have collected even in the current state.
if you have a 50% chance and have to use 50 glyphs for just ONE craft. I mean most likely if you find a t6 or t7 and it has two affixes you want to keep and your lucky and its only at like 15 instability. that has two t5 affixes you want to craft on the item still. that’s 10 crafts, each consuming more and more glyphs. I don’t know the math for instability to success ratio but at 39 stability a t4 to t5 upgrade is 61% chance with a glyph.
Maybe the glyph drop rate could be dropped.
I don’t know about you, but i have yet to find a single exalted item on a proper base for a character that i would even consider doing something like this on. And RNG of find the right base with RNG on finding the right t6/t7 affix on that item and then the RNG if it doesn’t have shit other affixes on it and then the RNG of if you brick the item before you even get to use it becomes so depressing to think about. I feel like the first 3 big stages of RNG are enough and adding the crafting RNG just makes getting end game gear feel really really bad.
I find several good usable exalted on a good base every stream I do (typically less than 8 hours of play time) There much easier to find if you hunt for exalted rewards in the monolith of fate.
as for
I’m not disagreeing that having a glyph sink would be nice, but id rather see it in a form of the drop rate being lowered than being able to stack them to guarantee crafts. If they are tradable as a currency and you could stack them to guarantee results then RMT is going to be a huge problem as big spenders will want to have guaranteed great base endgame items crafted to perfection.
I agree that crafting end game gear feels pretty bad currently, but I also agree with boardman21 that crafts shouldn’t be automatically guaranteed.
One thing that might be nice would be if there was like a rune or glyph that could repair a non-destructive fracture, but reset all the tiers back down to 1. Which u could then re-craft up over and over again (Maybe on an exalted item you could re-craft that single affix back up to 6 or 7 but not any other ones that high?)
