Corruption Levels

I’m about 70hrs into LE and have been loving every minute of it. Reminds me of how I felt getting into D2 as a kid. Looking forward to learning more about the game and becoming involved in the community.

Anyway I am curious to know how high most people have their monolith corruption levels. Currently I’m at about 200 and was thinking about trying to get up to 300. Are the benefits of grinding up to really high levels (say +800) worthwhile? Is there a cap to the benefits and difficulties that come with corruption levels?

No, it’s viewed that ~300 is the sweetspot for increased loot but minimising the increase in difficulty. There’s no hardcap, but minimal benefit from going too high.

It really hard to give “average” answers, because there are so many different player types.

But typically there are a lot of people that don’t push corruption at all and just stay at regular 100 corruption empowered o evne quit chars before that.

For more dedicated players that push character I would say most will be around 150-200 corruption and if you are really into min-maxing a build 300 is anotehr common threshold.

200 corruption is the threshold of enabling all drops from the Shade of Orobyss.
Going beyond that does help but is really not “necessary”.

The main benefit from corruption is more Timelinestability gain (which quickens timeline boss farming) and higher chances for more rare echo rewards (like specific Unique/Set Items or Exalted Items).

But keep in mind its always a combination of Corruption and depths within the echo web.

So a 200 corruption echo web at a depth of like 10-15 echoes away from the starting point is usualyl better than 250-300 corruption very close to the starting point.

You need to find the sweetspot for your build, to be able to comfortably do echoes deep within the echo web without dying, because dying will lose oyu echop rewards.

Thanks for the quick replies guys, I appreciate it.

And thanks for all that info Heavy, super helpful stuff. I think I’m going to stay between 200-300 and see how that feels.

Having seen posts from people that run corruption 1000+ pushing it so high is completely pointless. You don’t get higher legendary potential on unique items, you don’t get more T6/T7 affixes, you don’t get more exalted or unique/set nodes in your echoes, you just very slightly increased chances of exalted (and unique/set?) items dropping.

Honestly, I don’t see much difference between the drops in level 58 monoliths and corruption 300 ones. I’ve been at 300 for quite a while and I’m yet to see a single T7 affix item drop.

Wow getting up to to +1000 must be an out of control grind, especially since there is no point.

Interesting you haven’t seen any T7 affixes yet. I’ve been at 200 for a bit and have seen some T7s. RNG maybe?

Yes, they can drop at any lvl above 90 (corruption or no).

I can tell doing 500+ for quite some time and the drops are really not different from the time I was in 200 to 300+.
I’m kinda disappointed :frowning:, but its the first time I was pushing corruption to test my power so I continued.

I keep farming because my build can afford it with a certain comfort, I just need to be more cautious with the modifiers and don’t stack more than 2 high damage modifiers.

I’m thinking to try till 700 corruption, but I’m afraid to get too difficult and it will be a lot harder to loose corruption than to gain.

There are some crazy oldies here on the forum that have come to the same conclusions re the benefits of 1000+ corruption levels. I havent the patience honestly so I tend to believe them.

I’d honestly not bother with even 700 unless you are purely trying to confirm that general concensus. Mike said that the devs are using 300 as the balancing spot for high end builds so your 500 is more than enough…

Imho, Its more fun respec’ing or running an alt. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

The difference in “drops” themselves is not really significant, but the echo rewards are substantially different.

It does really make a difference for all these Specific Unique/Set Item, Exalted and Vessel of Memory/Chaos Echo Rewards.

Which for target farming certain items are you best chances to get the gear you want to begin with.

you mean there are more chances to appear unique and exalted item reward echoes ?
if so I Agree they appear more times, and so we should have more chances to get a specific unique…

But the quality of unique itens I gain in these echoes are the most disappointing part.
Right now I have 787 echoes completed in “Ending the Storm”. Farmed dozens of unique gloves and not a single one was really good. The exalted echo rewards are also rarely usefull.
I have more luck in drops from random enemies or dungeon drops, wich are the ones that generally come with some usefull affix or the uniques with some LP. Of course there is no rule here, its just a random observation from a single char for a limited time, but its the impression I got so far.

Also cleaning all echoes in a specific timeline can be extremelly tedious sometimes, Im doing this task in the moment and Im in the the same timeline for days, and I never end it :stuck_out_tongue:
I like more the approach of choosing 2 to 3 paths and trying your luck these ways, then reseting the timeline. So far finding vessel of memory is being very hard to me.

Thanks for all the great replies here guys, it’s nice to have so many different perspectives. I’m learning a lot.
