The new monolith system is awesome. It now sits as what will likely be the best endgame avenue for target loot systems and support by optimising blessings for giving our characters that final polish.
Since the launch there has been a lot of feedback and changes on the timeline stability to support the quest echos. However, I believe the real issue lies in the fact that each timeline has it’s own corruption. Corruption is our scaling risk vs reward to match our characters power levels. However, players are getting locked into one specific timeline just because of the large time investment of getting to corruption levels appropriate to the characters power level. It becomes increasingly repetitive running the same timeline and feeling like it is a huge set back to try other timelines due to the initial time investments.
I believe it would make more sense to revert the timeline stability challenges but make corruption global, giving more agency to try different timelines while retaining the reward vs risk difficulty.
I like the idea of corruption becoming global, or maybe gaining a lower amount of corruption for all other timelines than the one youre currently working on, say 50%. Just for balancing rationale.
I understand the idea but I strongly dislike it.
I like each monolith to be a fresh start. Imagine your hero is not strong enough to do a timeline, so you continue with the one you are in. Progressively you raise the corruption. Then when you feel ready, you go to next timeline… which is even harder due to all that corruption.
The idea is cool but I think it should be an option.
Only because it’s so OP nobody else can cope with playing it.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanyway, getting back on topic.
I kinda would like this but I’d be concerned that one might run one monolith up to “too high” levels of corruption then not be able to run the other ones because they’re matching that level of corruption.
Maybe have a tickbox where you start an empowered monolith & you either accept the highest level of corruption that your other monoliths have or not. Then add in something that allows you to reset the entire monolith to the base 100 corruption if, for whatever reason, you want to start from scratch.
Yes, that’s me. But I was not saying blessings are not SSF viable, I was saying that is two empowered blessings are required, a build is not “budget”. That’s not the same thing at all!
Blessings are always a good thing and always in the good spot, but a build that needs empowered blessings is a build that requires a lot of time and investment.
I really like this idea, especially later on when we have more endgame systems and the only endgame for most people will not just be the Monolith. I don’t find the corruption regrinding particularly engaging now either to be clear, Reminds me of getting to an appropriately challenging arena wave somewhat.
