So, reading the patch notes, it seems that the corrupted form node on the lich tree caps ward at 50% of max health. That seems like a huge nerf to a low-life build… The upside of always being low-life seems kinda irrelevant, it’s not hard to achieve without that. Maybe I’m missing something, but I’ll probably avoid this node, playing low-life or not… Interested to hear other people’s thoughts.
Yes Corrupted Form also caps ward at 50% of your maximum health.
The use case for this is the follow node Impact Ward, that lets damage over time bypass your ward, so you can use Ward for chunky one-shots and use health and life leech for incoming damage over time.
You sacrifice total eHP in trade off for much easier sustain.
Mmmh… I think I’d still rather use Impact Ward without capping my health or ward (and not play low-life) if possible. And if not possible, a 20% reduction in DoT taken doesn’t justify such drastic nerfs on eHP as far as I can predict, although to be fair it does let you get the benefits from low-life without health decay. The only thing I can see is that Architects of Astral Blood would make this node viable (assuming the ward limits are additive and not independent), but then Impact Ward would be too risky because of the health decay coming with the item.
Well you will gain a lot of EHP because corrupted form gives you “more” max HP and then 10% of that is endurance threshold. So your 50% HP is very tanky.
Well you do miss out on a lot of low life damage nodes and idols
Not as tanky as 3x max health ward if you ask me…
All those I found were increased damage, I think those points/affixes would be better used elsewhere.
Anyway, I remain skeptical. Maybe someone will make this work but I don’t think I’ll be the one to try.
It’s not 3 times the max health. Because corrupted form isn’t increased health, it’s “more” so it’s multiplicative.
On top of that the idea is to have incredible mitigation because you spread out damage to all your defensive layers.
The goal would be to cover almost all of your 50% health with endurance, then the other 50% health is actually ward.
If you are stacking HP with corrupted form I wouldn’t be surprised to see 7-8k Max health so that’s 3k+ HP at 50% and tons of endurance threshold. While also having 3k ward that isn’t damaged by Dots.
It’s fair to remain skeptical, corrupted form isn’t good unless you have gear and are gearing towards it’s benefits.
Working on it right now… Main issues i’m dealing with is Aura of decay being bugged and lowering my phy res instead of buffing it.

The main node is the first one at start of lich tree Dance with Death. It’s 40% increase damage and 120% at low life. So only a huge positive for low life.
There are also Idols that give up too 66% increased damage while at low life and 20% ward retention. So you can really boost damage by being low life without negatives.
Yea it’s a very interesting mechanic I theory crafted a build in planner with 6.8k max life so 3.4k HP really but with over 2k endurance threshold. There is a lot of redirecting damage so it should work.
They got to fix the bugs though lol. I’m trying to play around them.
Well, after trying I have to admit I was completely wrong. Those nodes are a great boost for a low-life lich. High leech for HPS, and missing health for WPS. The only synergy I go for with low-life is the node in the reaper form tree, for the others I find there are better alternatives. Thanks for the discussion!
