Why just add a void or a fire tag if the base damage still scales with physical damage? It’d be much better if we could convert 100% of warpath damage to fire or void and not just swap a tag.
I would love a way to have cold conversion myself. think it would be cool convert fire stats to cold.
I think all skills in the game should have a convertion option in the future, lightning convertion would be nice too so I could use 2 aurelis and cast smite while spinning but since there is no way to convert warpath to lightning, it’s useless. But my issue with the current warpath is that they just swap the physical tag for a fire or void tag, the base damage itself is still physical.
Warpath conversion nodes change the base dmg (1) from physical to fire or void and change the tag accordingly. Changing the tag means that your + x melee dmg from your weapon will take that the tag of your skill. So if your convert Warpath to fire you are not scaling with physical dmg since all your flat melee dmg will be fire.
Concerning cold or lightning conversion, the devs have stated they don’t want every skill to be converted to every type of dmg.
You can still run a cold Warpath but you need to have some + melee cold dmg and not just some + melee dmg in order to preserve the type of your dmg (go check the set of the shattered lance). You won’t have a cold theme vfx though
I know the description says that but it is still scaling with physical damage when it shouldn’t that’s why I’m making this topic , it’s a bug and it should be fixed. If the devs don’t want to add real diversity build options ok then I guess we’ll always take the same nodes cause that’s what happens with most of the skills in this game.
The base damage is only 2, you wouldn’t notice if it was still scaling with phys. If you’re reporting a bug you should do it here - #bug-reports

When you say physical dmg, are you talking about % increase physical damage or flat physical dmg?
Are you looking at the tooltips (because they are quite unreliable)?
Any chance you can provide us with some footage of your gear, skill and maybe even some gameplay?
Base dmg is 1 with 60% added effectiveness
Increased physical damage
If you have any sources of flat physical damage, such as on your weapon or the Sentinel passive Overwhelm, that will still cause the total damage to scale partially with increased physical damage. Check your equipment and your passives.
Yes I’m aware of that I have no flat physical damage.

At the very least the DPS tooltip is wrong (which to be fair is kind of a known thing anyway). But I’m also seeing DPS go up on a Level 4 Warpath taking only up to Apocalypse Whirl, switching between two weapons that are otherwise identical except for one having % Increased Physical Damage. No passives assigned, no other skills, no other equipment.
