Tempest Strike + Looming Gale node (totems)
When facing an enemy, character will attempt to walk to within melee striking range before casting the totem at their feet. This makes the skill very awkward to use. When facing a wall/cliff/empty area, the totem will cast at max range as expected. Other skills that are totems by default (storm, thorns) cast at max range / on top of targetted enemies without first walking up close.
one very annoying workaround:
- see an enemy pack on the edge of the screen
- turn around to face away from them
- hold the tempest strike button (xbox right-bumper in my case), casting at least 1 totem off in never-never-land
- continue holding the button, spin around to face the enemies
- cast more totems at range into the pack
very awkward having to constantly pirouette in order to unlock casting totem at range (and also having to cast additional totems in nowheres-ville), or else having to walk up close to cast in melee range
