I have tested and have some observations on why it should be changed / fixed, even if it is working as designed and how the wording describes it:
- It looks like a bug, when you re-cast within 2 seconds the animation is “twitchy” and you do not see any spell effect visual.
- It behaves like a bug. When you target a different enemy, Spirit Plague doesn’t apply to that enemy. I assume Spirit Plague is spreading, but there is no visual feedback showing when you re-cast within 2 seconds.
- It performs like a bug, clearing echoes without the node is night and day faster and easier. That shouldn’t be the case. Adding a skill point that is intended to add AOE shouldn’t be detrimental for all builds (I understand a lot of nodes are build dependent, but I can’t think of a reason any Spirit Plague build would benefit from taking this node).
- Similar to the above, it breaks Pestilence, you just can’t spam the spell to build stacks of that anymore and that seems wrong.
- It is confusing to multiple players, I found a couple other bug reports from people confused why Spirit Plague re-cast wasn’t working and seemed to have odd delays. The devs/support folks helped figure these cases out, but until this is fixed my bet is anyone trying to use the skill with get confused by this and have to re-figure it out.
