This node reads as follows, “Spirit Plague is now a combo skill. Directly recasting Spirit Plague within 2 seconds will cause up to 3 inflicted enemies to spread Spirit Plague to other enemies around them.”
There is no visual feedback for this action being performed. Instead, you raise your weapon and it looks like you failed to cast.
It’s clearly designed to help clear, but it doesn’t exactly “spread to other nearby enemies around them”. This suggests that it will AOE spread, but it just chooses one adjacent enemy and gives it to them. You have to spam cast it to get any kind of spread going and by then, things or dead or the fight is taking way too long. Currently, you have to cast four times for it to change anything. It feels better with this node off because then you can get more separated packs afflicted with Spirit Plague.
My suggestion would be to spread to every adjacent enemy, reduce the range for this part of the combo, and perhaps increase the mana cost. Either that or have the second part of the combo also apply a new curse to your target location. For example, if I cast Spirit Plague three times, there should be 7 afflicted enemies, not 3. If I am completely misunderstanding its effects, please let me know. I cannot see any value in its current iteration.
