While I love the game, these two missing (quite basic) features bug me quite a lot.
When you compare items, there is no way to compare a weapon with off-hand item, same goes for rings.
When it comes to audio, you can only manually pick the output device. Why? When my Windows output is set to my Speakers why do I have to manually set the game there too?
I believe the 2 features should be quite baseline and even after 1 year, they are not implemented. Please?
They finally solved the issue in 1.2, you can compare the off-hand. You compare the first by holding down Ctrl, to compare the other one you continue holding Ctrl and press Alt.
Thank you, once the server is back up I’ll try that then. Weirdly that button combination did not show when I tried to check it, but glad to hear that it’s possible
Checked it now, I still can’t find any comparison option for an off-hand item… I can compare with my main hand with ctrl, but ctrl-alt only shows mod ranges, not change it to my other weapon.
No, I always have auto-compare turned on and it works for me.
Having auto-compare and always show mod ranges, this is what happens to me:
Hover a ring → it shows my right slot ring.
→ press only Ctrl → comparison goes away and I only see the hovered item.
→ press only Alt → comparison goes away, mod ranges go away, I get the extended description
→ press both Ctrl and Alt (order doesn’t matter) → compares to left slot ring.
I just tested this in the game.
If it’s not working properly for you, submit a bug report.
Interesting how it works differently for different ppl. I press and hold Ctrl then press Alt to get the off-hand ring/weapon. If I just press Ctrl then it compares the primary, pressing Alt alone gives me the extended description (just like you). If I press Alt first then Ctrl, I just see the hovered item with the ranges.
Do you have the same options as me for auto-compare and show mod ranges?
I expect it will work differently with different combinations of them.
The easiest solution would be to just compare with both at the same time, but I expect that wasn’t easy for them to implement.
Second best solution would be to add a different hotkey for this, since the current system seems confusing.
That could be the case as I do not have auto-compare on. There was an issue cased by having it on quite some time back so I turned it back off and just haven’t tried using it again.
