I find the combat sluggish, unresponsive at times, perhaps it’s an animation canceling issue? Trying to hit a teleport or a bird attack while shooting a bow to get out of trouble usually ends in death, like it’s needing to wait for the entire animation of the 5 attack to finish, plus a half a second, before it will let you use 1-4.
What animation cancelling?
edit: Only skill I know that has something like that is Flurry.
Maybe I’m using the term ‘animation canceling’ wrong. Funny, I am using Flurry, and that is precisely the problem. If I’m using it ‘too much’, the 1-4 keys won’t respond to ‘intercede’ my Flurry (right mouse-5). I find I have to literally rewire my brain to try to ‘not’ use Flurry unless I’m super safe, to make sure I can teleport and use my bird attacks and my acid (certainly not a good build, but not the topic at hand ).
At the risk of invoking a ‘terrible’ game compared to LE, D4, I don’t have that issue. D3 was snappy as well. I definitely don’t have the issue in something like GW2. Pressing 2-5 in GW2 is snappy and will interrupt 1 (your auto-attack, and how I view 5).
There’s just an overall unresponsiveness to the other skills when I’m trying to twist them rapidly with the right click action 5. It’s frustrating. It is what it is, I guess. I’m surprised it’s not more of an issue for people. This feels more like Enshrouded’s combat. I love that game, but because of the lack of speed of everything in that game, not being so snappy isn’t a big deal. When you got 100s of monsters flying at you and you need to acid, dive bomb, (other bird skill I can’t think of), teleport and Flurry (and I’m not talking about when they are on cool down, when they are ‘ready’), they don’t respond. If I Flurry, and it’s in the middle of Flurrying™, God forbid I do 2-3 Flurry’s in a row, and then hit teleport, I often don’t go. It won’t register I pressed it while Flurry is going.
Is this all a Flurry problem? Do I just need to not use Flurry in favor of a different attack? Die hard bow, knives and melee need not apply.
the tooltip on flurry literally says you can cancel the 3rd attack by doing something else
well, as this is the only class and that is the only 5 ability i’ve used, that would explain how i feel about the combat. i suppose i’ll see if there is another ability that will work the bow that i like. thanks.
Afaik there is no skillqueue in LE and some skills are unuseable while you press the button for another one. I wish there was something like a skillqueue so the game takes all my inputs instead of doing nothing at all at some times.
Then there are some issues with hitboxes where my toon walks on the spot instead of attacking an enemys. There is a lot of stuff that comes togheter that makes LEs combat feel a tad bit sluggish.
Then again they are no 9k+ person studio so I give them time to get better at it and over time the game improved a lot. It’s good to call this out but right now I don’t think there will be any big updates on combat ans skill behaviour.
