Cold Flay Lich Freeze Chance

I’ve been fine tuning a potential cold flay lich build and wanted help figuring out if building into freeze chance was worth it?

The build in question is here:

Cold Flay Lich

I’ve been able to squeeze in about 2k freeze chance multiplier. This is then multiplied by around 200% more freeze chance at full chill stacks(blessing) and 330% chance to freeze from 15 frostbite + exposed flesh.

The freeze rates I’ll be working with will be:

  1. Flay - 360
  2. Bone Curse - 100
  3. Marrow Shards - 50

The freeze formula works those out to be:

( Base freeze rate * (1 + freeze rate multiplier) * (1 + freeze rate per stack of chill) / Monster HP) * chance to be frozen.

  1. (360 * 21 * 3 / 1,000,000) * 4.3 = .097 = 10% chance
  2. (100 * 21 * 3 / 1,000,000) * 4.3 = .027 = 3% chance
  3. (50 * 21 * 3 / 1,000,000) * 4.3 = .013 = 1% chance to freeze

Are any of these freeze rates at all usable for end game? I don’t know what end game hp levels look like now so I’m not sure if it is worth pursuing.

Don’t forget the freeze rate per stack of chill affix that can go on your helm & chest. Have I missed som +max skellues, I thought you can only get 6 as a Lich for a total freeze rate of 320 for Flay.

Its should be 7. 6+1 for putting 23 points in necro. I tested on a necro because I don’t have a lich and forgot about the mastery bonus. I’ll change it to 360.

Is the Age of Winter blessing multiplicative?

Frostbite & Exposed Flesh would be an x4.3 multiplier, not x3.3 (100% increased doubles your chance).

The freeze formula on the game guide calculates it like it multiplicative:

https://www.lastepochtools.com/guide/section/freeze

My calc are off regardless though. I didn’t realize your need to apply freeze chance after (base freeze chance * freeze multi * freeze chance per chill stack / monster hp). I was also missing some some +1s.

This kind of leaves me at the same place though as I don’t know how much monster hp I should be building for. I think I read Aberroth is like 10 million. If that’s the case it may be pointless. I’ll try 1 million for the calcs maybe that is enough for trash mobs.

Fair enough, that is multiplicative.

It doesn’t matter, using the figures from the guide, ((40 x 2.5 x 6) / 10 000) x 4 = ((40 x 2.5 x 6 x 4) / 10 000) = 0.24

As long as the numbers are correct & you’re treating added/multiplicative things correctly, the order is irrelevant.

After recalculating the numbers aren’t looking good. Even end game bosses had only a couple million hp I probably wouldn’t be seeing freezes until they are at like 5% hp. It will probably be better overall to just go for pure hit damage.

Especially considering bosses have a 50% reduction for freeze. So you’d need twice as much as for a normal enemy.
