COF to MG

I recently decided to switch to merchant’s guild after getting to level 10 cof and getting lots and lots of items but never getting the ones i wanted on my runemaster or my necromancer. So i saw that it was easier and more obtainable to get gear by just farming gold and favor and you are guaranteed to get what you want with merchant’s guild so i switched to MG on my runemaster but the t7 relic and a unique weapon i need cost 500+mil gold. Idk if i should stay and farm gold for hours and hours or go back to cof and continue praying to rngjesus.

What is it that you are looking for exactly?

A specific Base Type with a Specific T7 affix?
What Unique?

Without knowing hte details I would say any Unique without LP or 1LP is really obtainable in CoF with the right strategy.

Specific Base Types with Specific T7 affixes is very unreasonable to get in CoF

EDIT: And btw, welcome to the LE forums

Thank you <3. The expensive relic is +4 frostclaw whatever base item to slam into a twisted heart. and the expensive weapon is a 3 lp frozen ire. Tbh i just dont know which one cof or mg might be the best to obtain these items idk if i should farm alot of gold or just keep praying to rng with cof.

I know these items are very hard to obtain almost unrealistic i just want opinions as to which might be the best/smartest to pick mg or cof

So I would say Frozen Ire is doable in CoF, but not as fast as farming gold though.
Still very grindy.

But the relic alone is completely unreasonable in CoF. +X to Skill Y affixes are already very rare, let alone T7. On top of that you want to a legendary craft of an item that is very hard to get with 2+ LP, which means you will most likely use a 1LP Twisted Heart. Which means you have to maybe craft multiple times. You would need to use Rune of Creation on the exalted Item for sure and farm the Twisted Heart multiple times

The Relic alone already screams MG if you really want that high of a goal.

I personally would ask you, do you really need this high of a goal? Because if you tone down your goals a tiny bit. Maybe a Twisted Heart with “only” T5 or T6 + to Frost Claw and 2 LP Frozen Ire that sounds a lot more tangible in CoF.

Thats a good question i didnt check to see if a +3 frost flaw item might be significantly cheaper on my server(not home atm). I have that high of a goal because ive had alot 300-500c characters and I want to push kinda high with the runemaster. Do you have any suggestions for gold making? Ive basically just been pushing corruption with the increased gold drop blessing

Oh and one more thing

MG in basically all cases will be the “best” option to acquire specific items.

MG vs CoF is not really what is “better”, it is about what playstyle and style of acquiring your items you prefer.

Obviously EHG tries to make CoF appealing and I think they achieved that already and with a few more adjustments it might become even better.
But practically and realistically MG will always be the “best” option, at least for acuiring specific items.

If you are collecting loot for multiple builds or like starting new builds based on items that drop CoF might be actually “better”. But for specific items MG will always beat CoF.

I don’t know the specifics of your build, but to be fair the difference between +3 Frostclaw and +4 Frostclaw will not be that high. Some skills really do benefit from an extra skill point, but it will not push you another 100 or 200c anyway.

usually the defensive setup is what determines how far you can push corruption, damage usually is not an issue.

I am not a MG player, so I don’t actually know. I never cared for gold.

As a general advice I would just say do the highest corruption timeline that you can do fast and comfortably and hunt Gold Reward Echoes. Gold drops and Rewards scale with Corruption.

Def still needs a little more resistance and reduced crit damage taken asap i know

What i am aspring to eventually have: Build Guides, Tierlists, Planner, News for Last Epoch - maxroll.gg

From what you are saying and from what im gathering from youtube and google it is probably best for me to grind gold and mg favor to obtain specific hard to obtain drops

I really can’t give you any tips for your build.

I am not a mage player nor a meta build player.

But I guess you posting what you have and what you aspire to might help some other people that play that or similar builds to give you tips.

Yes that is what it comes down too.

The question is, do you really need those super high end hard to get items to have fun playing the game? Because even if your builds might objectively not become as good, you might have more fun with CoF. That is how I personally get most of my fun and enjoyment out of these loot-driven ARPG’s.

With target farming exactly what I want through trade the game becomes boring very quickly., because your progress is very predictable.

Thank you for your time and opinion friend :orange_heart:. Time to grind gold and mg favor when i get home today lol

Whichever you decide to pursue, I’d say you have a month (until 1.1) to get there. I expect frost claw will be one of the heavily nerfed builds.

I also play CoF and I have recently dabbled in Runemaster following FrozenSentinel’s lightning version of Frost Claw.

If the frost build is better I cannot say, but I guess it feels the same and both look like hell. Lightning has a bit easier access to skill points and isn’t as mana hungry. It might also deal more damage in the end. It loses the default freeze, but you can freeze bosses with Snap Freeze.

Regarding skill points in Frost Claw: They are extremely important and one point can make a big functional difference. However looking at your build the last two points (24-25) go into Artor’s Sceptre and those aren’t functional points, they “only” increase your damage.

This means, you might settle for +2 Frost Claw on the Twisted Heart (+3 total) or a regular purple +3 to get to 23 points in Frost Claw. What you lack at 21 points are two points in Celestial Conflux and given that the entire point of the build is to spawn Novas, tripling that chance is obviously big.

If you want to go MG is your choice but the idea of farming gold to buy upgrades sucks so much fun out of this game for me

As much as RNG sucks sometimes and people complaining about. It just as often doesn’t suck, but you don’t hear people talk about the good things usually, only the bad ones.

Glad it was successful!
