Chat filter is horrendous if you speak Romanian

Can we at least just hide the word you think it’s “bad” instead of removing the entire message? The romanian word for “how” overlaps with the english word for the reproductive juice.
It is very frustrating to completely remove a message for one word first of all and second… what’s up with the fear of swear words? Everyone is using them!

Don’t worry, it’s just as redacted in English.

I agree, it’s getting frustrating talking in group or /w with a friend, every time I try to write that word the message doesn’t get sent, another word that for some reason doesn’t get sent is “constant” which means constantly, no idea why those words are blocked, there are more languages in the world, not just english … I just stopped using the in-game chat, I have to talk on steam with my friend …

The chat filter is terrible for any Earth based language. The fact that it even exists in the current state is a blemish on whomever was responsible for its implementation.

The idea that people can’t handle some terse language should be squashed.

After all, isn’t there an option to turn off dirty words?

If they tell you which words they are blocking, then you’ll just mis-type the word to get the message through.

That’s why these nanny systems don’t highlight the word but rather block the whole message.

In the chat you can’t talk about the CoC because saying CoC blocks the whole message

In the meantime the chat is riddled with gold sellers. Such a facepalm.

I wouldn’t say that chat is “riddled” with gold sellers, but yes, they are frustrating.

My block list would like to have a word with you

The chat filter needs some work overall, but if it is going to exist, it also should only apply to public chats or conversations with strangers.

People talking with friends in whispers and party should not be subject to any chat restrictions. If mutual friends object to each other’s language choices in private discussion, they can either work it out or cease being friends.

If we’re really worried about hypothetical children or something, implement some kind of parental control option that enables the filter or disables chat so that parents can turn it on for their own kids.
