I plan to play a build based on disintegrate, a channeling skill with elemental damage as a base. I would like to add some void damage to this basis.
What kind of suffixes/prefixes are eligible to do that ? (For example, will “+ X void damage” or “+ X spell void damage” apply to the base damage of disintegrate ? If this is not the case, do you have any example of suffixes that can do so ?)
Any idea to convert or to get some void damage at the output of disintegrate is welcome =)
Suffixes are usually defensive, but there are some sources of flat spell void damage from uniques (the set Forgotten Knight sword). This would be classed as added damage (modified by the skill’s added damage effectiveness) not base.
Things like that are usually really hard to find on regular gear and mostly come from uniqeus and set items.
There are several uniques you can use, either individually or in combination.
here is a list of all items that have flat spell void damage on them.
Some of them don’t make a lot of sense on a Mage/Sorcerer, but there are always some fun builds you can try to achieve.
The most obviosu ones would be Confluence of Fate, Sacrifical Embrace or Blade of the Forgotten Knight (you can dual wield this as Spellblade and still use Disintegrate)
And I guess the spell void damage will apply to Fire Aura as well (70% scaling) ?
If I have some other sources such as “Added spell Damage” (no type precised), I had in mind the game converts this added damage into the base damage of the spell (meaning a spell with full fire dmg will have 100% “added damage” as fire whereas another spell with 50% base fire and 50% base lightning dmg will benefit from 50% of the added dmg as fire and the other 50% of the added dmg as lightning. Does it work like that ?
In the case that the base dmg of the spell is 5 fire dmg and I have one item giving 5 spell void dmg (meaning my whole base dmg is 5 fire and 5 void) , how is another affixes “+spell dmg” taken into account ? Will it split 50/50 between fire/void or will it be 100% fire because only the original value is taken into account ?
Correct. Any flat spell damage applies at 70% value
That is correct. This is how spell damage, melee damage and throwing damage work now with 0.9.
Previously only “Adaptive Spell Damage” worked like that.
If you ad flat spell damage of any type to a spell, that would not be considered base damage. Just because you added void damage to fire aura will not make other generic spell damage split up into fire and void, it will still only give fire damage (or cold or lightning if you converted fire aura to cold or lightning)
i had the same thought but not as a base stat. Instead i hoped EHG would add a passive skill node that would alllow to convert the lightning or fire or both elements into void damage.
