Champion/Possessed enemies shouldn't start blasting players with their skills during their start-up animation

Title. And what I mean with “start-up animation” is their animation from either spawning or doing some movements when they finally be in combat with the player where they’re usually still invulnerable or has a massive damage reduction. (I could be wrong on the massive damage reduction part. But it feels like they’re just simply invulnerable).

I’ve had many cases where I’m already being bombarded by lasers and meteors and web AoE on the ground when I can’t even hit the enemy, and somehow they can hit me? There are some enemies too that remain dormant like burrowed on the ground until you get close to them, but sometimes the necrotic laser can already start targeting the player from a far even the enemy isn’t even aggro’d yet.

We have freeze/stun mechanic which was supposed to help prevent enemies from doing these kind of attacks. And seeing enemies can hit you when you can’t even hit them is just straight up unfair when they can literally 1-shot you in higher corruptions. So these shouldn’t be happening at all.

Either let us players be able to damage enemies as soon as we start hitting them with our skills or make them not spam their abilities during these “start-up animation” times.

I’ve never seen this happen. If you take the void champions that start burrowed, they always “un-burrow” then start attacking.

I don’t know what it’s called but I saw a possesed enemy earlier with like a large skull and many boney tentacles that jumps and spins around (not the watchers), it was burrowed and the lasers were already trying to target me from a far.

And I think the most obvious one is this champion:

It has a very long wind up animation where it’s invulnerable like howling before it finally goes into combat. I typically see this one with lightning AoE and it spams it like crazy. Also this enemy’s drop takes a long time to actually “drop” on the ground too for some reason…

Bone scavengers. They remain burrowed until you come closer at certain range. But I’ve had one with necrotic laser which was targeting me while it was still burrowed. Sadly I couldn’t record a video.

Aren’t those the ones that are all balled up? You can still hit them, they just have damage reduction while they are balled up. You can even kill them from afar and they will never move.

Yes it’s possible to hit them, but the point of my post is that some of these champion/possessed enemies shouldn’t be targetting the players if they’re not aggro’d yet.

My experience fighting some of these enemies are pretty bad especially the dog-looking one that spams lightning nonstop. It takes while even before I can even hit it while it’s already spamming its abilities.

The fat void guy gets invincibility frames too once it spawns, but so far, I haven’t seen it spam abilities during its animation so this one is “okay” to me. And so far, only Bone Scavenger with necrotic laser were the one trying to hit me even it’s not aggro’d, which is kinda “not okay”.

The rest of the champions I fought were fine (so far).

I agree with OP.

Also Nemesis are the same sometimes. You can’t really damage them until you can and then you take damage instantly depending on the type and what skill they do first.

Yes that is annoying. I think it’s pointless for them to give these enemies invulnerability phase.

EHG probably thought they didn’t want players to kill the nemesis before they can even start to move but if the players can kill a nemesis in such a short time frame, that invulnerability isn’t making it more challenging for these players. It only add annoyance for other players.
