For things like say dodge, you have dodge rating and increased dodge rating. It often isn’t super clear to me when I should want one or the other. (given that I say, only have space for 1 affix) Presumably the more of one I have the more of the other I want, but it’s not clear to me just from glancing at my character sheet where I am on that curve most of the time.
The problem with this is, that “it depends”.
All those defenses, like dodge, armour and block are dependend on the area level you are in.
I guess at some point we might get more details stats in teh character sheet, but for the time being you can use the charts on tunklab: Last Epoch Info (tunklab.com)
Yes and no. While the conversion from your dodge/armour stat to chance to dodge/armour damage reduction are based on area level, whether an additional flat modifier or an additional % modifier would give you more of the relevant stat (to the get converted based on area level) isn’t.
What the OP was asking was how to work out when it’s best to add an additional flat/% modifier. The best answer I could give to that is to import their character into the build planner and have a look, or craft some other items and check in-game.
The way to think about it is what give a larger multiplicative “more” effect.
Ie 100% Inc and 50 flat. If you get a 1:1 ratio you want additional flat.
The formula should like this:
[(Current + potential)/current]-1=% more
At a glance is hard but just a little math you can tell. Take whichever gives you more.
I can’t remember if the character sheet gives the % Inc dodge. If it does you can find your flat by:
Current/(1+ increased)
This applys to all stats with flat additive and increased.
That’s the thing, unless I’m missing something, the game doesn’t break down your sources of +flat and +%increases in one place. It just gives you the overall rating and the final % effect that translates to.
Unfortunately the game only gives the %increased value for damage hence my suggestion of importing the character into Dammitt’s build planner (which does give the % increased).
