Can you get 100% CDR?

Really hate it when cool skills are never used because spam skills will always be the best choice. Can we 100% CDR skills?

Only if the skill has a node on it that removes the cooldown or a unique that does the same.

New cooldown = old cooldown / (1 + CDR%), so it’s impossible to get enough CDR to reduce a cooldown to 0.

So the best you could get it is to 1 second? Annoying but I might still try the build with that, going to suck real bad especially vs bosses though.

It depends on the skill & how much CDR it can get. Shield Rush has a node that removes the CD entirely for example, Shift can get it’s CD down pretty low (~1.4s) if you use 2x Smoke Weavers & the new unique boots. You could theoretically get Devouring Orb down to ~1s by maxing the Dust Channeller & Orb Master nodes and taking Anomaly’s Swiftrest node (which is multiplicative CDR for some reason).

Now, as a theoretical example, if you had 5 seconds of cooldown and an infinite number of 40 percent cooldown reductions, you would get (all rounded to one decimal place - I don’t know if you should really round in between here, but I’ll just do it to demonstrate):

5 : 1,4 = 3,6
3,6 : 1,4 = 2,6
2,6 : 1,4 = 1,9
1,9 : 1,4 = 1,4
1,4 : 1,4 = 1
1 : 1,4 = 0,7
0,7 : 1,4 = 0,5

It doesn’t quite work like that. For example, the 4th one (1.9 / 1.4 = 1.4) is actually 5 / (1+1.6) = 1.9.
So your list is actually

5 / 1.4 = 3.6
5 / 1.8 = 2.8 (compared to your 2.6)
5 / 2.2 = 2.3 (compared to your 1.9)
5 / 2.6 = 1.9 (compared to your 1.4)
5 / 3.0 = 1.7 (compared to your 1)
5 / 3.4 = 1.5 (compared to your 0.7)
5 / 3.8 = 1.3 (compared to your 0.5)

As far as I’m aware, Anomaly’s Swiftrest node is the only occurrence of multiplicative CDR, though it could be that it’s the only skill that gives global CDR apart from Teleport’s Wormhole node.

Even though it’s not an ability in the strict sense, I would have mentioned the Sorcerer’s passive Recollection here as well.

And thanks for correcting my absolutely wrong milkmaid calculation. :+1:

But is that multiplicative (like Anomaly/Swiftrest) or additive like the cooldown from gear?

The question is good.
→ Now I wonder how you know or at least believe/think that Anomaly’s Swiftrest would be multiplicative. I always thought until now that this only applies to damage (MORE) within abilities. Attack speeds from skill trees, for example, are not MORE, are they?

Slightly confusing.

I was doing a build with Devouring Orb (maxxed Orb Master for 150% CDR & maxxed Dark Torrent) & with Anomaly/Swiftrest I had expected DO to have a cooldown of 4 / (1 + 1.5 + 0.3) = 1.43s, but the cooldown was 1.2s and the only way you can get that is if Swiftrest is multiplicative → (4 / (1 + 1.5)) / 1.3 = 1.2s cooldown.

Correct, attack speed within a skill tree is (or should be, it’ll be quite difficult to tell) additive/increased rather than multiplicative/more unless specified.

Nice try.
However, it could also be a BUG (or otherwise unintentional), who knows for sure.

I seem to remember that in the course of changing various increased to more in the skill trees someone from EHG said that this MORE stuff would only apply to damage.

Directly exciting this topic. :sunglasses:

That is quite possible, yes. I did ask @EHG_Mike about it some time ago, so the devs do know about it but they haven’t “fixed” it yet.
