So with the implementation of all the new item types in 0.8 (Daggers, Bows & Quivers) i just wanted to give the devs a huge praise.
Literally all the base types and their level brackets, make playing with these a much better leveling experience, also the potential options for endgame character building has so much variety!
Literally every of those has a place in endgame builds.
Couldn’t agree more. So many things about Rogue looks like they’re introducing a lot of things requested in feedback over the last year that I’ve seen. It’s fantastic to see what they’ve done with all that feedback and the excitement it has not just for Rogue itself but for everything down the line.
Love how each item is effectively similar but has its own unique implicit - so everything can be used end-game depending on your build… unlike old items… which all had the same implicit so there was no point in using a weak ass broadsword vs a deicide sword end game. Really is nice that these new items scale.
Same… if a broadsword is 1.9m how can the effective range of a dagger be the same. I know this is fantasy but hey, thats like saying Sting is a longsword…
Maybe has something to do with the hit boxes and the devs realised that standing toe to toe with a mob meant you couldnt practically get closer than “1.9m” so making a dagger “shorter” would mess up everything… pure speculation here obviously.
Well think of it this way, it’s EFFECTIVE range so with a dagger you might be darting in and out quickly within a 1.9 meter range where as with the longsword you’re not quite as mobile but the effective range is still the same. for me it’s really not hard to imagine anymore than someone can hurl a magic ball of necro energy across a room that bends itself around walls and follows you.
Because while we are all praising for how good the rogue feels to play. It would feel like garbage to play if daggers had 0.8m range or something more “realistic”
Yes and no. All weapons came with special benefits and downsides. If you were forced to skill passives for extended weaponrange to offset this things would be fine… because magic… or whatever.
There was a discussion about needed realism on daggers and that a dagger isn’t able to attack faster then a sword and why it needs less attack speed while it’s obviously totaly okay to have the same weaponrange as a broadsword ^^. I just think it’s funny when on one hand people scream for realism when it comes to AS but a weaponrange that is wildly inaccurate is totaly fine :D.
Currently weapons are just stat sticks for the skills so the weapon range is irrelevant. That said I’d be happy with weapons applying a short/medium/long range to melee skills or something similar in the same way they adjust the attack speed.
