I’m confused by Ethereal Arrows node. What do we actually get for investing points into that Marksman node?
The additional Mana should be clear. Let’s say we use Multishot which has a base Mana cost of 10. When you put 2 points into Ethereal Arrows it’s 100% increased dmg from the 10 Mana MS. So Multishot does 10% increased dmg. If you put 10 points into Ethereal Arrows you have 500% increased dmg. So each MS shot does 50% increased dmg with 10 Mana cost. I hope my math was correct here. Basically Skills with high mana cost like MS, Detonating Arrow and especially Hail of Arrows do benefit from this node. Flurry or Cinder Strike cost 0 Mana, so they do not benefit from it.
Ok thank you. That makes sense.
I read that skill description again and it says: “You have additional mana and bow attacks deal increased damage equal to a portion of their mana cost”. Doesn’t that mean that it takes only part of skill cost? So if skill cost is 10 mana than it takes maybe half from skill cost? So that would be 5 mana times 500 gives only 25% damage increase for 10 skill investment? That would be really bad investment unless skill cost is much higher than 10.
The portion it’s talking about is 50% of the mana cost, per point. So 10 points would be 500%, or 5 times the cost.
1 point would be 10 mana (base cost) x 50% effectiveness = 5% increased damage
10 points would be 5% increased damage x 10 = 50% increased damage.
Basically, take the mana cost of the skill, multiply it by 5, that’s the % increased damage.
On a side note, the Base Class has a skill called Coated Blades. Increases mana cost by 5 points, 8 point max investment.
45 * 5 = 225% increased damage.
And Mana Wrap can increase the cost by 75%.
45 * 1.75 = 78.75 * 5 = 393.75% increased damage
And Dark Quiver can add 20 mana as well.
20 * 5 = 100% increased damage
Which can be increased with Mana Wrap as well
20 * 1.75 = 35 * 5 = 175% increased damage
Of course, it means your 10 mana cost skill is now costing 131 mana, but hey, it’s also doing 655% increased damage! Yay! Plus the passives and skills all increase the damage as well, but
this is just pure mana cost related increases.
Thanks for explanation.
Interesting, that sounds like awesome nuke and if you add 0 cost mana recharging skills you might get nice combo/wombo.
You can actually do the whole thing with zero-cost skills. Dark Quiver can add a mana cost to your attack, so that means it’s eligible for the Coated Blades mana cost increase as well.
How to solve the problem with insufficient mana? I play through an explosive arrow, I constantly do not have enough mana …
Your best bet is a zero-mana skill, and Sapping Strikes in the base rogue tree. I’m guessing your using ‘Detonating Arrow’?
If so, you don’t really have any mana efficiency options there.
You could also try getting Mana Efficiency from items, to reduce your costs.
Sapping Strikes doesn’t help much. =(
