Campaign suggestion for some "Spice"

How about adding a random “Bounty hunter” system to ambush players during the campaign, just to make it a little different. Maybe different “Stalkers” that roam the zones that are difficult to deal with. This could be similar to the Mages but harder, more aggressive and not telegraphed so the player couldn’t choose when/how to fight them, etc.

More brainstorming on how we can spice up the campaign and make it a little different on each play through. If we are going to stick with the campaign for levelling, etc., let’s juice it up more or make some crazy, random things happen so you never know what your going to get as you progress through it.

You mean like one of the most hated mechanics in PoE, which is the betrayal ambushes?

You already have more stuff to do in the campaign as more content gets added (lizards, nemesis, rifts).
Adding something that new players can’t escape and will likely kill them several times over the campaign doesn’t seem like a good option. That sort of thing is best done in optional endgame progression content, not when you’re level 2 and can barely do anything.

This system is basically the same as Betrayal in PoE. One of the most hated mechanics in the game unless someone specifically focuses on em.

They would need to be more dangerous then normal mobs and hence randomly appear, which is grating, annoying and unfitting for the overall difficulty curve as they’re unpredictable, unlike a annoying level design which is always in the same place.

I’m absolutely against such a implementation unless it’s 100% opt-in and not a step less.

Also… ‘Control the spice, control the universe!’ :stuck_out_tongue: Had to get that out of my head.

I actually have never played PoE or PoE2 yet, but the campaign is too easy and gets really boring when you make a new character. I wouldn’t mind continually going through it if it had more surprises and was more challenging. I realize I could play hardcore but that’s not the same thing. I’m sure the devs will come up with something to enhance it.

I do plan on playing PoE2 when its finally released as 1.0, but I really love Last Epoch and want this game to continue to grow and succeed.

The devs haven’t managed for years on end to fix the campaign and make it into a coherent gradually scaling difficulty. It’s all over the place. Reworks of early Acts, ignoring middle Act reworks, then following with sudden difficulty spikes that are entirely unfitting in Act 8 onward to traverse over into a snooze-festival of normal Monoliths.

That’s the current progression.

If you wait for the devs to handle the campaign state you’re better ready to wait another 2-4 years at least, because that’s their pace for fixing stuff sadly.

Wish it were different… wish it had a proper difficulty as well, sadly not the case.
