Bug, or did I do something wrong?

I was farming Empowered The Stolen Lance and got Gaze up to 13. I pushed to the very edge of the map where it would only give me the reset echos. I went in killed Shade of Orobyss and my Corruption did not increase.

Did you take the weaver tree node that says shades no longer increase corruption?
