So i now think this was a bug. I logged off and closed LE and then when i got home I retried the encounter, and it was a way different story. First, my pets taunt worked, before the boss would just target me. Second the white AoE on the outerring was smaller and not permanent. Before it was always there. Lastly, the blood pools disappeared and reformed, before they literally filled the entire screen and never disappeared. Needless to say it was pretty easy, not a cake walk, but totally acceptable. Lastly i leveled up from 70 to 77. not sure how levels work so no idea if that had an effect too.
So i finally hit a road block in the game. The Emperor of Corpse. Massive dps on a boss with a hp pool like lagon is just impossible. The whole screen gets lit up and then at 66% hp (takes a long time to get too) even more aoe dps in the form of High damage bloodpools on top of everything else. My minions have over 1000% bonus hp, leach hp (which seems totally ineffectual) and have a decent amount of damage. I went more defense on them but they just get melted by this horrible bosss. You should rethink your boss mechanic ideas. Being able to cover half the screen with a high dps aura and drop 20 pools of high dps and cover 1/4 of the screen with another high dps aura is just absolutey absord. at 2200hp and 1k ward i just melt, my pet tanks melt, basically its impossible for me which now stops my ability to progress. If the boss has a gazillion hp, and does a gazillion dps then its crutched (meaning a lack of good ideas for boss fights is replaced with extremely overwhelming dps and hp) . This strategy will simply annoy most players, which you will loose your player base.
Getting melted by Emperor of Corpses is almost exclusively due to not moving enough, including and especially when minions are involved. You are dying because you are trying to tank things that you are not supposed to tank. Your minions are not meant to be immortal mobile turrets and you need to move them out of things.
There are some issues with the size of the arena and blood pools being more difficult to see than they ought to be, but ultimately EoC is a skill and awareness check, and far more so than any previous boss is.
When the screen is all dps pools, there is no where to go. Cant stop moving, therefore you can not raise pets. My golem is melteded before i can try to summon anything. It just seems as though you need specific gear for specific fights. My assumption the problem is it has 85% damage pen and that destroys pets that have almost no resistances. End game needs ALOT of reworking, beginning and mid game is great. But going from completely anihilating a time line to being completely annihilated by the gate keeper is just poor game developement and an average player is just going to get frustrated and post negatively. Theres so much potential based on mid-begining game, but i am sick of yellow drops as rewards for each zone. I just blitz them looking for exalted, set, or unique rewards. Stop trying to make yourself feel superior because you figured out a way to beat, probably easy for your character and beat it on ALL characters with various skills and gear and then you would be able to see that it is not an equal footing. If it is meant to be that hard, it should be moved to the final boss of the game.
That’ll be a DPS issue then if you’re getting that many blood pools. The blood pool things deal a % of current HP, so they can’t kill anything but will get you/your minions down to a very unsafe amount of HP fairly quickly.
Problems with mono quest echo bosses can be the modifiers you have active when you do it.
I believe the emperor of corpsed to be way easier than some other bosses such as the ones from the Black sun or rage of winter timelines.
Most of the time, I never get shot by anything against him, it’s just a question of timing once you know his 4 attacks.
His screenside AoE was nerfed in one of the recent patches, yes. It only does 1-2k hits with maxxed necrotic resist (on empowered, ~180-ish corruption without too many % damage mods).
It sounds more to me like the problem is A) You and your minions are standing in AOE effects you’re not supposed to stand in because B) You lack the damage to kill the boss before the AOEs become unmanageable.
The fundamental concept of a Boss is that it is harder than the not-bosses that came before it.
I’ve beat it - repeatedly, and Empowered - on the same kind of character you’re getting flattened by it on, so… Sorry? Do you want help playing better and improving your character so you can beat the boss, or do you want to be a sore loser and take your ball home?
