The boss fights resetting on death are sooooooooooo insanely annoying. Why is it like this?
I could understand if the fights were relatively quick, but they are not. I was stuck on Logan for ages before I finally got him. Now I’m stuck on Majasa and have been trying for about 2 hours and it feels like the biggest waste of time in the world.
I kill Majasa, she then starts doing Melee… ok… so then I get her half way down, and then she somehow heals and goes full health again… ok… so I get her half way down again and then die. That whole process is like 7 mins or whatever. And now I am expected to go and do that all over again? And again?.. And again? And then I don’t know what happens after I kill her with Melee? Maybe she starts doing some other crazy shit to waste my time? man, this game is painful in many ways.
What makes this even worse, is that there is no Waypoint just outside. I’d love to TAKE A BREAK from this, but the fact that I would have to GRIND AGAIN to just reach her just adds to the pain.
While I understand your frustration… there are a few things at play here…
In the campaign (far too easy imho), the boss fights are difficulty checks for your character/gearing/skill… This is normal and the game has to have these points to give you a challenge based on how you have built your character & motivate gear looting… if these didnt exist the game would be far too easy.
Lagon & Majasa are the hardest ones during the campaign and there is some discussion about smoothing out the difficulty so that there are not such jumps in boss hardness… This is likely to happen once all the content is done and the devs have a start/finish to work between. For most people Lagon is the first time in the game they will have a challenge… I promise you its normal and having been through him with new chars many times… its the first time you can tell if you have figured out the game mechanics or your build properly…
Another point on LE boss fights… a lot of them are technical requiring understanding of the boss mechanic, telegraphed moves and in some even positional play is important. It may take you more than a few tries to get past them… Even if you have a relatively ok build. Bosses in Monoliths other areas after the campaign are even harder… Thankfully imho…
Teleports/Waypoints have been discussed a few times in the past… In some instances, the devs have added more… in others they havent… Some of the reasons for this is that they didnt want boss farming to be too easy… As to if and when they may add more waypoints… its up to them.
Multiplayer will affect how bosses behave in terms of resetting - this has been discussed a few times in the past too… Especially around the issue of not even dying but just teleporting back to town to drop off loot and coming back only to find the boss respawned… The devs have confirmed that MP will handle this differently.
But why on earth would you farm the campaign bosses? The don’t drop lots of good loot and you generally want to move on to higher levels and better base’s.
Graveyard zerging makes any boss mechanic obsolete.
Its not like bosses have 10 phases and take 10 minutes per try. If you cant beat it you maybe are expected to “try smth else” … and here we are talking about a completly optional boss in terms of char progression. If you cant beat her now come back later with better gear and more levels.
And most bosses in this game a very mechinacal and gear checks are quite rare. They would be totaly pointless if you could just ignore mechanics by dying.
