While I love the idea behind the Bone Harvester as it is right now (simply because I love commanding an undead horde), it just feels too RNG to be satisfying.
The 20% chance on kill makes it somewhat useful in map clearing situations but even then, it’s heavily diminished if you are using a pet build as only your kills will trigger the effect, not your minions’.
In majority of boss fights it’s nearly useless, unless every boss starts summoning waves of mobs specifically for Bone Harvester users.
So what I suggest are a few options:
- Allow your minions’ kills to also proc the chance to summon a Skeleton Harvester.
I personally consider this the least good option, but it would be preferred over the current one regardless. - Add a second effect alongside the current one to the item that can summon Skeleton Harvesters, for example:
5% chance to summon a Skeleton Harvester for 15 seconds on minion hit from Summon Skeleton, chance is doubled against enemies affected by Undead Harvest.
This would make it more viable the more minions you have, plus make it useful during boss fights. Although as a result, a maximum number of Skeleton Harvesters would make sense.
- Revamp the effect.
Below is my own personal preference but it is only one potential idea:
5% chance on hit with Harvest to summon a Skeleton Harvester, chance is doubled against enemies affected by Undead Harvest.
Skeleton Harvesters benefit from modifiers to Summon Skeleton and Skeleton Rogues.
You are limited to [⌊Maximum Number of Skeletons * 0.5⌋] Skeleton Harvesters.
