Blessing screen almost kill HC player

I am helping my viewer to post this.

My viewer was playing HC and when the boss died, the blessing screen cover majority of his screen while the boss effect lingers. Hopefully this can be address, the below is a video he showed me.

That’s really bad.

Maybe try recreating this post under the Bug Reports section, cause this is definitely a bug.

It’s actually not. Skills, once “cast”, continue to exist for their alloted duration regardless of whether the caster dies. So if a boss uses a skill that has a 10s duration & dies 1s after, the skill continues to exist for 9s.

Yeah, this has been discussed before, a couple of times I think, so I know the devs are aware. A bug report in '22 I believe and in another similar topic about prophecies not too long ago. It is still an issue and should be addressed but it’s not listed on their Known Issues page.

IMO, they shouldn’t. It makes sense for something like a fire ball or a tornado to continue after the caster dies, but not an ability like a tri-elemental beam being channeled through the caster.

Also, most bosses channeled abilities can be canceled if you stun them. I don’t know about this one, but if it’s possible to cancel it by stunning the boss, it makes even less sense for the ability to continue after the boss dies.

I neither play HC nor was in the risk of dying because of this, but this pop-up window is a terrible idea, since you can’t even close it with any panic button, afaik.

I noticed this issue one of the first times I killed a mono boss, I was worried then too. I would suggest they put a quest marker up on the blessing re-spec person for us to choose our new blessing reward from there, rather then a popup.

I agree, but given it continues after the boss dies that means it wouldn’t be cancelled by stunning, it’s a duration skill that’s cast like Volcanic Orb.

orrrrrr, it could be a bug? XD

Yup, depends whether it’s channelled or cast…

Yeah, this is really annoying. Both the confirmation window duration after you select and confirm, and the lingering affects of the boss.

It currently isn’t consistent as some do end when the boss dies. For example, Julra’s affects disappear when she dies, Abomination’s soul devices’ created DoT affects are tied directly to Abomination in a way that they disappear when he dies. It should be consistent with all bosses. A character can be killed by the DoT left behind in Reign of Dragons as it has happened to me in the past. The blessing window makes it hard to move out of them as you have to go outside that large window to do it.

No, you can’t. The red(ish) degen pools that come in from the corners do a % of current hp so they can’t kill you (unless they changed that in the past year or two).

Maybe it was changed at some point but I know that I died from one of the DoT affects quite some time ago, wasn’t paying attention as the pop-up window was covering me and the area I was standing in and I didn’t see my health declining. I died.
