Hello, I am trying the umbral blades falconer build right now. The umbral blades skill scales with Cold, Throwing, and dexterity. I was using a temporary bow i randomly found with cold, and my umbral blades had 2900dmg written in it. Then I acquired a “Hell Reach” bow, which is fully focused on fire, also has a very low base dmg, but still makes more dmg than my other bow, and I absolutely don’t understand why. Probably the pros know why, but im pretty noob, so thanks if someone can enlighten me
The bows I was talking about: https://i.ibb.co/q3RS581q/asd1212.png
That would be because of the much higher flat damage your other bow gives. With your exalted bow you’re getting +50 flat cold damage (since your skill is cold) and +7 lightining. That means that all your other sources of increased cold damage will apply to your base skill damage + 50.
With Hell Reach you’re only getting +12 cold and +15 fire. That means that all your other sources of increased cold damage will only apply to your base skill damage +12. That is a huge difference.
Thanks for your reply. I think i made the title a bit confusing, because i referred to the exalted bow as the “better bow” since it has cold in it and my skill scales with cold. Exactly that is the reason I don’t understand why is the fire bow is giving me more damage.
Hell Reach has higher Attack Rate and additional Attack Speed. I don’t know the other stats of your character but it seems like that additional speed is more valuable than flat damage for you right now.
I suppose the problem is that you’re trying to shoot shurikens using a bow?
I mean, the Umbral Blade has no Bow Tag, and you’re trying to increase it’s damage from +Bow Damage modifiers.
So those bows are doing practically nothing for that skil, and the Hell Reach only shows more damage because of the atk speed.
Thank you! I guess no bow tag on the umbral blades explains it
