Beastmaster mastery needs something to be more defensive. Shaman gets +50 defense per totem. Druid gets +125 after a crit. And cinsidering 3 out of 4 aspect buffs require you to be in the fight to do a melee hit or get hit by a melee hit i would recommend the following.
1 new node in beastmaster passive above the halfway point that gives +25% armor and protections per summoned companion. In the solo companion node a single +150% armour and protections with solo companion can be added. This bonus should be bigger that both shaman and druid for obvious reasons you have to put affixes on gear for companions instead of yourself.
Edit: I know the main argument will be that you should be playing behind your minions or what not, but mobs tend to run past them just for you and even with 100% gb and some defense companions almost always with just a bit of dodge end up tankier than i am. If your expected to be in the fight with them you need a defense boost. MoF runs have turned into just running to the end and dying so my minions will beat it for me…
Just give pets tank options with skillable increased aoe taunt passives. I don’t think the Defenses of the BM are the problem here but the mechanics. A class that buffs his pets to do all the work should have a reliable way to transfer agro instead of buffing the pets and getting even more benefits just for… reasons.
That’s antoher issue I’ve with pet classes in almost all games. The reliability of pets is rarely good in any way and the BM and Necro are punished by this big time but I still think the pets are the issue and not the BM or the tools he have to deal with enemys.
Well I think the bm should be punished for damage. Not for defense. Make the beastmaster depend on pets to get the kills, join in to help if you want, but damage shpuld be nerfed for him not defenses. There’s specific mob types that chase the player having pet threat be higher I just dint think will solve the problem. Why should a powerful warrior that has pets be a glass cannon
Edit: also for the solo companion this would be even harder. Although your solution which has been talked about before having a damage link between you and your companion mayne 40% of damage you take is shared with companion would be just as viable or better than just addding armour and protections
I Agree.
there can also added some passive in the beastmaster skill tree that gives more defense with companions but with a penalty in the players damage to balance it.
