Bard-like Playable Character

Sooo hear me out, what if we have a Bard character fo Last Epoch?! That would be totally awesome! And since we do not have yet a female character ( to balance out the gender that we have for each class in the game) we would assume that the character would be female oriented on this.

I’m just typing down what comes in the top of my mind right now but-
For the main class we can name it Poet/ Minstrel/ or just plain Bard? On-hand weapons can be daggers, mace, scepter? and the off-hand would be their instruments of choice.

Basic class:
Bard/ Poet/ Minstrel
This is the basic class and the skills would be the for to enhance the skills for its future classes like throwing daggers ( like rouges shuriken but more linear) , lyrical/musical beat (aoe physical dmg - can be enhanced/elementalized by future skill tree nodes), whips/ chakrams ( for it to lean on a more melee playstyle)

For classes I think it can go many ways my samples would be:

  1. Poet/ Orator/ Doomsayer
    Off-hand: Scrolls/ Bells/ Trumpets/ Bullhorns ( medieval megaphones)
    This class leans on physical/necrotic range archetype, this character uses its voice as a tool of destruction to provide curses, negative ailments, and explore more on the not explored status like Doom (which is currently provided by Siphon of Anguish unique ring) It also uses it skills of communication to “Recite” verses on its tomes to damage enemies and much more! Like on Dnd- Power Word Kill which we can also delve into the Execute mechanic on hp percentage!

  2. Troubadour / Sonneteer/ Ringmaster
    Off-hand: 2-Hand Musical Instruments ( Harps, Guitar, Violin, Tambourin, Tuba etc etc)
    This class leans on a much more support/tanky minion playstyle ( as all jobs have at least one minion enabled class (ie Sentinel-Forge Guard, Rouge-Falconer, Primalist- Beastmaster etc etc),
    This class summons their band of musical performers to kill enemies. I dont know exactly how yet, but it can be a great topic of interest regarding this leaning as more of a support/tanky class ( like Paladin ) with Healing Effectiveness, Attunement scalings, Vitality scalings ( you know as the band brings life to area and I havent seen a skill who scales in Vit) and minion scaling.
    This class may also flex into the “Singer” archetype to buff their minions/companion/wanderers or do a singing build which acts as a ranged support type character for those who are play exclusively in parties.

  3. Gypsie/ Fatale ( originates from word Femme Fatale )/ Ballerina/ Danseuse/ Piroutte (as there is already Bladedancer)
    Off-hand: Whips/ Chakrams may also two hand sceptres, maces and daggers. ( as I havent seen any real scepter or mace builds as of yet)
    This class is mobile melee oriented damager with high evade and critical chances.
    This can be the close who want their gypsie to perform combos and big damages when those combos occur, and may also use the echo mechanic of VK as they disorient enemies with their dazzling movement it seems that they are in two or more places at once. They can use their whips to dish out big damage to those dare to disrupt their deadly performance. This character may also utilize a Charm-like affliction, which can turn enemy into potential temporary ally in which after they help you cause of your beauty you stab them in the back!

Let’s discuss on the comments below your thoughts on this. As ive always wanted a Bard-like character on my ARPGs but no one has ever implemented Its always the streotypical characters which you already expect, and I think Last Epoch devs really do listen to their player-base — and im here shooting in the dark and maybe give the devs an idea of some kind.

Anyway, as to the actual ideas: I do think it’d be a cool add to the game. The only thing that concerns me is adding a whole new category of weapons just for one class. I kind of already don’t like that we have 2 weapons (Bow and Quivers) only one class can use gunking up the drop pool. That said, if they could find ways to make these available to all classes at least in some way that’d be cool, but it’s my understanding that part of why they haven’t done that just has to do with the animation work involved.

Actually, thought: Maybe instead of the instruments being weapons, they could be the different relic bases. Classes already have their own sets of relic bases so it doesn’t add that much to the drop pool for those, but it does have the downside that they wouldn’t be particularly visible. Maybe the abilities that use instruments could use a model based on your relic though. idk.

just to balance it out cause we already have 3 males and adding one more female would balance it out.

Im thinking more of the intruments be more of off-hands but yeah i totally get the clogging of the loot table too.
