Autopickup Shards Question?

Tacking a question mark onto the end of complaining doesn’t make it stop being complaining.

@Heavy pointed out several changes that have been made to reduce the (imaginary) friction about picking up shards. It’s pretty obvious when the response to that includes phrases like “Picking up shards is killing me inside” and “I get mad every time I click on shards” the real point of the thread was just to continue complaining, not to ask a good faith question about the state of the game.

Bro… it was legit question… i even try it today and i can say its better but simply nah for me… Seems like u all are just toxic to every question or complain…

See you in 12 months?

He was stating his situation, then asked for clarity on the current environment. Christ, you’re obtuse, simply to be obtuse. He doesn’t like something about the game, and apparently, that causes you pain. I think we’re demanding the wrong people step away from the game sometimes…

For me “no auto pickup” is a bit annoying, but not game breaking. I just don’t understand why insist on it. What’s the point of forcing us to click on them AND then in inventory to move them? Compare it with GOLD - it just gets picked up and lands in its pool - no clicks needed.
Is it about possibility to trade/gift them in multiplayer?
My suggestion is “give us a choice”. In-menu toggle or in inventory toggle to autopickup shards and move to resource pool. Even seperate it into singleplayer and multiplayer (in group) options. What would be bad about it?

For me the problem is : im using reaper form cd red so i moving really fast + porting so i have to stay in form as long as possible and to do that i have to deal as much dmg i can so picking stuffs from the ground all the time killing my precious time and its killing my fun time while blasting creatures ( my english is bad but i hope u get what im talking about…) peace

The devs have always said in the past that they view shards as “pseudo-items” rather than a currency. If PoE’s implementation of currency weren’t a thing I might be able to not-disagree with them but having played PoE sincle the closed beta shards/runes/glyphs are as much a currency for me as gold.

They want them to “have weight”, despite them being auto-picked up in a radius so it’s impossible to pick up just the one you want without also picking up all the other common ones as well. And you can’t hide them with the item filter.

They want to introduce a shard upgrade system whenever so they might get worthwhile as soon as they are able to introduce it. Still it’s just a useless timesink and they can’t convince me otherwise  .

My 20 alts (and I’d have a lot more if I could) say hi.

Once I built adequate shard wealth, yeah of course I’ve stopped giving a darn about them unless the odd rare one like Hybrid Health drops. But it took thousands of hours to get there. Up till then I was still smashing quite a bit to build that up. I’ve been through a LOT of builds and had to delete many chars to make space.

Yes, but that’s the kicker, isn’t it? When new shards are introduced, or you need to keep a stock of the useful/rare shards. Since you can’t do anything with them in the loot filter, you’re stuck either reading all the damn nameplates, or picking them all up (hoping one of the is useful). That has been the crux of the complaint the entire time.
