So Aura of decay still does not have a spell tag? makes the ability a bit of trash without it

DoT’s doesn’t benefits from spell damage and all the tree of AoD its about damage over time instead directly cast it. Why do you think it need a “spell” tag?

mostly because there is a billion items that interact with “poison spells” lol. the only poison spells being spells which are converted to poison and deal DoT. Drain life/Wandering spirits mostly.

it being a spell does not mean it needs to deal spell damage btw. Eterras blessing is a spell, and does not deal damage.

it not having the spell tag is just fluff cause “buhhh its not a spell” which honestly just serves to turn off potential items it can use for 0 reason.

What you’re asking for its a complete rework of AoD function, wich is being a DoT. And that will not happen, because if they do, all DoT should be affected by spell damage then.

Not really, you know this is lots of skills with a poison tag that dont actually do poison damage right?

Tags dont inherently do anything. Tempest strike is physical, cold, and lightning even if you turn off those tempests. So you can have +1 to physical skills despite never doing any physical damage on tempest strike.

Tempest strike is also a spell and has that tag even if you remove all the tempests. Because it having the spell tag means nothing other then giving a descriptor of what it is.

AoD scales with cast speed, but is “instant cast”.

All having the spell tag would do, is cause it to work with certain items that look for poison spells.

Great example, Fireball is a spell, it can also poison. it will never cause those poisons to scale with spell damage just because it has the spell tag.

AoD never hits, and simply inflicts ailments on targets nearby, so it could have the melee tag and still wouldnt cause melee damage. As it never hits or inflicts a damage based scaling ailment. it only inflicts poison or other ailments if specced for them.

So items designed for AoD work with AoD.

Example is Rotmind catalyst which is designed for skills like AoD. It provides less poison damage taken over time and larger aoe. But…BUT!!! You don’t get the +1 to poison damage over time spells. So as I’m wearing that item right now it feels bad.

Tongue of the abberrant seal which is the best poison ring and an AoD ring the +1 poison spells doesn’t benefit AoD. You get no benefit for the poison chance on spell hit.

These items 100% need to work for AoD.

No one is really asking that. What people are asking is for AoD items to fully work with AoD. You can include a spell tag or change the poison items so they work.

Also there is nothing wrong with completely reworking AoD. Half the skills in this game need a complete rework. EHG should be 100% working around the clock to rework half of the skills in the game.

You are assuming it was designed for AoD, which it wasn’t. It clearly was designed for Wandering Spirits, Drain Life and Spirit Plague.

The only thing i can read here its the lack of knowledge y’all have about the game and the intentions of EHG behind AoD and how it works.

Now, im pretty sure im not an expert, but im pretty sure that EHG doesn’t wants “one button builds” or “afk builds”, so call me crazy but i guess that’s the reason why you don’t have a spell tag in AoD. The whole “they should rework most of the skill” part (which they doing in every season) sounds more like a “wahh wahh i specifically want to this work as i want to cuz i want it to play like that”.

Well, that’s no longer the case, though, is it? They gave us a chest which is literally for an AFK builld, which is the reflect chest.
And they also buffed AoD poison and especially bleed.

So you can play a one button/AFK AoD bleed. You just can’t do it with frostbite because of the conversion restrictions.

It is still the case. Even with the buffs, you can’t go afk or just full AoD without other interactions.

And about the chest, yeah, go ahead and build around it, tell me how it works for you going full afk or with one button.

The shield is for the % increased thorns damage not for blocking per se. Though I’m also going to be spamming thorn shield so it’s not an afk build.

But those are the builds that we want to play in an ARPG. The goal is always 1 button look at the mobs they die and pick up the loot so we can do it faster.

This is why EHG is giving us more afk and auto use builds. We want to relax and farm while watching netflix or listening to pod cast.

It’s just designing support for the skill. Again you can change the items so they don’t have a spell tag and can be used by more builds that is another option.

Actually you can. They giga buffed it from the patch notes too live.

Bleed Aura was 30% effectve in the release patch notes, now it’s 75% in game.

There is also tons of more multipliers, gear etc.

Also last season I played an Auradin and it was a walking simulator which is peak gaming.

Keep in mind there is tons of design for 1 button builds in game. Take Chaos bolts, proccing rip blood and harvest. Or now Flay procing Chaost bots which also proc all that. 1 button.

It’s just called good design and fun builds.
