Aura of decay’s visual does not grow with increases to it’s area of effect from the Plague Rat passive node or from acolyte idol bonuses.
The actual area of effect does seem to be changing when I test it on the training dummy, but it extends well beyond the visual (which is the initial size) and is hard to gauge visually in real maps.
Also, while testing on the dummy, I noticed that if I turn on Aura of Decay and add or remove an Idol that increases the area of effect for it, the aura is not updated as long as I don’t turn it off. Since there are ways to keep aura on permanently, I can currently cast it with increase to area idols in and then swap them out for other stats.
Not actually a bug, you need to turn it off & back on again. Like most things with a duration (minions, etc), the skill’s stats are snapshot when it’s “used”.
I’m aware of the snapshotting in this game. However:
The visual is not updated regardless. There simply is no increased visual size.
Being able to snap shot a skill with benefits from different gear and then carry those benefits through an entire map is clearly not intended. It seems like something that should be corrected for.
An un-spec’d Aura of Decay (the dummy isn’t taking damage):
With 1 point in Plague Rat, the dummy is now within the AoE & takes damage but the graphical aura size doesn’t change.
With 4 points the dummy is still taking damage but the graphical effect doesn’t change.
But I can definitely move further away and still damage the dummy:
With further testing, the aura is changing size, if I stand on the copper ring I need 3-4 points in Plague Rat to damage the dummy, only having 1 or 2 doesn’t make it large enough.
After having broken Excel out, a 40% increase to the area of a circle is “only” an 18% increase in the radius which should be visible but I’m not sure that’s a reasonable amount for 4 points (which is feedback).
This is exactly the test I did and the point I was originally making.
I’m not sure if you’re trying to correct me on something, or if you’re supporting my post with photo evidence, in which case, thanks.
