Are you really that incompetent?

Let’s be completely honest. The game is in a pathetic state!

First the bug that spread all the loot across half the area and now I’ve lost contact with the game server five times within an hour (and no, my internet connection is not the cause of this).

I don’t even want to talk about the new inventory system. As soon as you press the “Sort” button even once, the game freezes for several seconds.

This is unacceptable.

Then go play something else, this rude feedback won’t help anything. Nobody is forcing you to play LE.

Sure, there are bugs, some minor, some major, and some even gamebreaking. But I’m still enjoying the game, supporting the devs and hoping they’ll eventually address those issues.

Bugs happen and fixing them takes time. And new bugs appearing because of fixing something else … happens even to the best ones :man_shrugging: It’s just a game so relax and take it easy

Players demand/push for fast development/balancing/fixes/changes - often with the empathy of a brick, as @Llama8 likes to say - and then complain that everything feels rushed, bugged, and poorly optimized.

I wonder if there is a relation between time pressure and quality

I find this kind of comment hilarious, because NOBODY IS PLAYING THIS ANYMORE. This game is a flop, telling people to leave the game doesn’t solve the problem it just takes even more people out of the game which results in less revenue and less interest from the developers in solving the problem.

I’ve been very patient with all the issues since launch cause I really do appreciate the work and mentality that goes into LE. However, it has been increasingly difficult to enjoy or even play the game. I can understand the launch overload. I can understand the gold hacking/botting issue. Last season I couldn’t do a single temporal sanctum without a server disco because of some weird EU server bug? Only weeks into the season a guy in in-game chat gave me the tip to switch to American servers which was a hotfix but during the whole season I had to log out and switch realms every time I wanted to do some temporal sanctum runs.

This season, I couldn’t even play because the game runs at 14 fps after “optimization”. I don’t have any problems with other games and I didn’t have problems during the last seasons. I’ve posted this on the forums and there has been silence for days. It’s honestly just frustrating that this game has literally become unplayable for me.

Shouting it doesn’t make it any more true. LE doesn’t have the numbers of PoE or Diablo (on account of being a much smaller studio without 10+ years of content) but that doesn’t mean people don’t play it or enjoy it.

True, but neither does screaming tje teh gaem eees daeded!

LE has issues, obviously and the devs are working on them (also obviously). Can/should they do better? Of course!

Of course! It’s never a problem with the player’s Internet or the route the data’s taking. Because all game servers are located in the same place.

The cause for repeated disconnects is either a bug that isn’t rooted in the routing/connection, or it is not a connectivity issue from EHG’s servers, but something that happens outside the influence of EHG. If server connectivity issues were the case, every single player connecting to this server would run into the same problem.

One impression I have from the overall performance: the whole database and server system EHG has come up with appears to be fundamentally flawed - maybe beyond salvage.

Sometimes, the cheaper/easier route is to scrap a system and redo it with all the experience you gathered. The longer you wait until you start the redo, the more costly the decision becomes. The good thing is, you can do this in parallel - if you have the funds.

If LE was a free to play game, like poe, you can say such thing, but it is not a free to play game, i bought it. So I think when company take my money it becomes responsible for game, period.

That’s funny, because where I’ve taken my username from it literally means no one.
So yes, I am playing this.

Go play Diablo 4, those developers will definitely hear ye there  :joy:

I don’t think D4 is great ARPG but quite honestly, devs seems to listen to the players quite a lot based on all the changes they brought in the past year. Unfortunately, the D4 player base is so big, and full of casuals with 10 kids, they also listen to players who want VERY easy and brainless time up to the very endgame.

However, you should not bring D4 when you want to defend Last Epoch and bugs/performance issues. D4 engine is great in terms of performance and bugs are far in between and quickly fixed if I recall correctly. Of course, they have a lot more resources, but customer does not really care how many employees work on the game, the product is what matters.

They don’t listen to the players. They listen to Rax and Wudi and a small number of streamers.
Some of those streamers listen to the community, though they tend to listen to their side of the community, which means that the feedback they provide is biased as well.

I like Rax, but almost all of his feedback is based on blasting content, “floor is lava”, change this so I only click twice instead of 3 times. That playstyle is exhausting to me. But that is who Blizzard is listening to and changing the game for.

Luckily most diablo-clone players think graphics are secondary, as long as the gameplay is fun.

No, we waited 1+ year for multiplayer and it was the buggest shitfest of a patch ever.

there is no connection to closed testing = better patch.

They need to just put out patch and then fix it as it happens. How long have they been working on the stash fixes/changes? they are still bugged. They need to release them to live to even begin to understand how its gonna work on a wide scale.

They have some kinda internal testing issue that prevents them from being able to get these issues in closed testing which means they cant fix them because they dont even know they exist.

I promise you, when 1.2 drops there will be tons of new bugs and lack of polish, thats just GaaS, taking longer to make the patches wont cause them to release bug free and instantly playable.

To be fair, the issue with the mp launch would only have been caught by closed testing if they’d had tens of thousands (possibly more) of CTs trying to log in at the same time, ie, a number approaching the number of players at launch.

I think in general this is whats happening with the stash issues too. They had some people probably test it, but probably no one with near the items or number of player stashes etc.

I just dont really have all that much faith in software devolopment these days. its not even EHG exclusive really. Software is just a PITA, and needs to just have its bugs sorted after its sent out there to be beat up by many users.

Programming is really complex, especially with a system that has so many interlinked systems as a game like this. D3 did public PTRs for a week and it still had lots of bugs that weren’t detected in that time.
Sometimes you just get bugs from sheer numbers (as was the case with 1.0 launch and probably now with stashes), other times it’s just some weird interaction with something only a few players have (either in-game or even hardware), etc.

Having bigger test environments or PTRs helps reduce the number of bugs, but pretty much every software these days will have bugs in it. There’s no getting around that.

True! True!

And D4 did several open beta stress tests which I think helped a lot in overall stability and yet there were still launch issues (though relatively brief).

D4 has only just returned to public PTR (twice, so far), but I think it went well and even though they don’t want to, I think the competition in this space will change their mind about how often they do it.

I think we can expect an extended PoE 2 early access/open beta.

If I was asked what my point was I’d say, “I got lost and kind of wandered in to this thread, but public testing is good!”

They shot themself in the foot by not prioritizing performance and optimization when the game released. I hope they understand that with the piss poor performance ppl wont play it even if there is new content. how fun is it to play new content with constant fps drops, server lag and stutters? it gets annoying real quick.

This is true, but it’s not a general problem as it doesn’t affect everyone so it’s likely a bunch of issues (or general optimisation) that may not be easy to find & fix. Plus, part of it will be their choice of engine as Unity is not known for it’s stellar performance (though Dsyon Sphere Program runs pretty well). And, they do put in optimisation tweaks in every patch.

Typical fanboy can’t handle a little heated feedback. Get over it.
