Are we near a new Cycle yet?

Getting on 3 months… Time for new content… Should we at least be hearing something about Cycle 2 and more end game content in the next few weeks?

The game launched on Feb. 21 (10 weeks ago), and they are aiming for cycles to be 3-4 months. That would put the update somewhere between May 21 and June 21.

I’m not really a veteran of the genre, but people here have said other games usually don’t preview the next season/cycle until soon before it launches.

Pretty much.

I think the point is that none of the others died under 3 months. This game sank and unfortunately it wasn’t for lack of warning

Closer to June seems more likely in my mind so they don’t end up competinng with D4 S4 which starts on May 14th.

When does POE2 start? That would also be a big competition for a new season of LE.

@DaddyLuvsYou
IIRC June was supposed to be the closed beta but that’s getting pushed back so POE2 isn’t going to be out for a while.

We definitely are, and I really hope that EHG really comes out firing on all cylinders. This patch is the second most important time in their existence. 1.0 left a really good impression on people, but the game’s end-game’s clearly lacking. They really need to get 1.1 out ASAP, if they want to cement their position.

My guess is, we’re gonna hear something about the new Cycle in the next 2 weeks. EHG’s not stupid. They know they have to ship, so that LE doesn’t escape people’s memories.

1.2 is actually less important because, by then, they’d have wooed in some 70%+ of the people that will ever be playing their game, so, their core will always come back. Then again, if they manage to deliver a killer 1.1, on top of an amazing 1.2, word will spread, and they’ll see even more growth, but they only need a really good 1.1 to be in a really good spot.

PoE2 won’t launch until 2025. And considering that I’ve heard launch dates for PoE as early as 2020, I wouldn’t be surprised if it only came out in 2026.

Think you’re going to have to temper those expectations. Haven’t they stated explicitly a few times now that the only major addition to the next cycle will be a pinnacle boss system? From their own words they’re not going to do massive changes until 3-4 cycles in.

Yes, that’s correct. The problem is that, in my opinion, that’s a huge mistake. The very first few days are critical. Very few people stick around to see what’s up with the game down the road.

PoE is fully owned by tencent, and LE is partially owned by tencent so i doubt they would clash on cycles, similar to PoE extened their last season by a month because of LE release.
And last update a month back or so was that PoE 2 beta was delayed untill the end of 2024. So maybe release in mid 2025?.

Actually, PoE extended their league and was due to start at the same time LE would launch, probably on purpose, which was December 2023. EHG then decided to postpone their own launch until February so they wouldn’t be impacted by this.
So, if anything, PoE tried to clash with LE launch, not harmonize with it.

I don’t know where all this tencent tin-foil hattery comes, but I very much doubt tencent has any say in important decisions for PoE or LE.

Not much tin-foil hattery about who owns these companies.

EHG decided to postpone launch because a pretty massive season for PoE came up, and PoE decided to postpone (this league) by a month because LE came out.

Cannot wait for a new cycle with more content!

You missed my point. The initial launch date of LE was in December 2023. Then GGG annouced that their new league would be delayed and would start in… December! Seems like a pretty strange thing to do if your mothership is controlling things.

Anyway, tencent doesn’t own anything in Blizzard and, if you’ll pay attention, you’ll see that they also try to time their season dates in between these 2 games.

This is not because there’s a mothership in control of things, it’s because studios aren’t dumb and will try to maximize their potential playerbase.

So, yeah. Tin-foil hattery.
