Are saves local?

My Hardrive failed and I needed to reinstall. But after doing so all of my characters are gone.

Yes, and you can sync them with Steam if you use their client

Yes, all save files are currently stored locally and can be found here:

C:\Users"Your_User_Name"\AppData\LocalLow\Eleventh Hour Games\Last Epoch\Saves

If you had Steam cloud save active…maybe they’re there as well? Though, I’ve never tried to recover them.

Also found a folder in there where you can backup your Loot Filters.

i just started back playing , i wanted to do a fresh restart… i found out how to delete my toons and my stash , but is there a way to remove all the crafting material from the forge … its the only thing that didnt get removed when i deleted my toons/stashes… play on the stand alone client , not thru steam if that matters …

I imagine the standalone saves to the same location, but your shared stash, gold, crafting materials should be saved to the Epoch_Local_Global_Data_Beta file (and its temp file) within:

C:\Users\ “Your_User_Name” \AppData\LocalLow\Eleventh Hour Games\Last Epoch\Saves

Where “Your_User_Name” is the name of the User you’re currently logged into Windows as.

well i deleted that file already , and it didnt include gold or crafting materials … so im at a lost now. i guess i can self impose not picking up crafting material or selling items for gold for a day or so , to even it out perhaps .

I just tested this and it worked for me.

  1. I deleted all files within the Saves folder (to start completely fresh for this test)
  2. Created a softcore character (one without selecting any additional challenges) and collected some gold and crafting materials because I had zero of both when starting
  3. Then I just deleted the Epoch_Local_Global_Data_Beta file (including its temp file) to see if I would have any of that gold or crafting materials I just collected when I loaded back in
  4. And no, I now had zero gold or crafting materials available on that character

Did you also delete its temp file, Epoch_Local_Global_Data_Beta_temp? Otherwise, I’m not sure why it didn’t work for you.

yea i deleted every file in the save folder including the temps . ill try a reinstall see if something corrupted or not … thanks for your time in testing it on your end .

Do older saves still work after major iterations of the game?

Our chars still work, so I guess yes
