Are Prophecies a separate loot table from the target enemy's loot table? If so, consider changing?

For context - since level 75 I’ve been solely farming the Blood, Frost and Death timeline in an attempt to get the Frostbite Shackles to drop from Frost Lich Formosus.

I’m almost level 91 now, and still no drop. The ridiculousness of this is a topic for another day.

However, starting at about level 80, whenever I had over 10,000 favor with Circle of Fortune - I would go and refresh armor prophecies - targeting “unique glove” drops from either Boss, or Frost Lord Formosus himself. My thought process here being that it’s a cool way to increase your chances of getting targetted items that only drop from specific bosses.

After 10+ levels of doing this now though, I’m realizing that Prophecies don’t seem to trigger or roll against the target enemy loot table (Frost Lord Formosus in this case). Instead they simply roll against a random world drop loot table - meaning I get absolutely no benefit from getting “unique glove” drop Prophecies to help with my farm.

Is this factual? or am I simply the unluckiest person ever and that bad luck is warping my perception of reality.

Boss items can not drop from a Prophecy.
Prophecy items draw from the “Random Drop” Poll of items.
Frostbite Shackles are considered a Rare drop, so will have a much lower chance of dropping from the boss. The best way to target them is to push Higher Corruption, preferably over 200.

Thanks for confirming Zathras.

This seems like a missed opportunity for a Circle of Fortune perk. If I was playing in the trade league, I could arguably save myself 100’s of hours (literally been at this a full week) of farming by simply buying the item.

Prophecies should be a way to improve your ability to get boss specific items when target farming. Obviously it would still not make it 100% you’re going to get the item you want, but at least the prophecy should add the target enemies items to the prophecy loot table roll. Otherwise, what’s the point of picking “unique gloves” drop from a boss vs. from a rare enemy… not understanding the prophecy drops from any boss really under the current methodology.

I also think it would be nice if CoF could have some influence on boss drops. Maybe at the very least the perk that makes LP more likely could apply to the boss drops?

I farmed for a pair of frostbite shackles the other day and didnt see a drop until about 260 corruption. No LP of course, but I was tired of grinding at that point.

I really think that boss items should eather be unsellable or be farmable with CoF.

MG getting something CoF cannot is just not fun.

MG can also directly buy a legendary, which CoF can’t drop. Should they get legendary drops as well?

That aside, I do agree that boss uniques should be target farmable with CoF. 1.1 will likely bring a lot of changes for both factions, so let’s just wait for them.

No because a unique with legendary potential is just better than a legendary with random stats(due to the giant affix pool). As you can choose what item is forged onto it.

I’ve been farming formosus since about lvl 77 on my runemaster. I’m currently level 96 almost 97 around 370 corruption farming only blood, frost, and death and have never seen frostbite shackles. I did 3 echo’s (2 of the same one twice and one I got lucky with blessing) to get the frostbite %, and freeze multi to boost my damage around 250 corruption in blood, frost, and death. I have 17 stash tabs of exalteds gathering dust and have about 120k favor that I have saved up because I really only want boss uniques at this point. There’s quite a few things I could target with the favor but they’re all marginal upgrades at best if I can’t get those freaking shackles.

The only reason I’m being so stubborn to get this item is I’ve done this before. At launch I had a torment warlock that I was trying to switch to bleed where I farmed formosus for shackles and gave up trying around 270ish corruption because I crippled my build by respeccing too early. I could’ve fixed it fairly easily but I was tired of killing the same boss over and over for no reward.

I get it if they are super rare for LP, but I think that maybe a 1 in 5 or even 10 per kill drop rate for 200+ corruption would be fair.

Frostbite shackles are strong as balls without LP.

arguably one of the most broken items for making ward problematic for all classes as it gives access to huge swaths of ward retention that otherwise you would need to invest in a dead stat(int) to get. And ward retention is very important for high stable ward.

There is a reason that have such hard to get LP values.

So is it that you have never dropped the gloves at all? or that you have not dropped them with LP?

Cause if you have dropped the gloves just without lp, its working as intended. if you have not dropped the gloves at all, then you are even more unlucky then me. it took me around 30~ formosus kills to get mine at 250c.

Nope I haven’t had them drop at all so far. I figured it was just bad luck but I actually came to the forums to see if Boss drops were bugged or something. I heard one guy say he got them to drop 1 in 3 times around 400 corruption so I figured I should’ve seen em by now.

Once I get shackles I’ll finally go get my blessings and take some res off my gear. I’m a little too focused on those freakin gloves since this is the second character I’ve tried to find them on.
