"Applying diffs" takes FOREVER.. Even on a 60mb Patch

Downloaded a 60MB patch a minute ago, stuck on applying diffs (100/723) now for 2-3 minutes, now it’s slowly crawling up. 5 minutes later and I’m on 255/723. 10 minutes and they finished but then the diffs started over and I’m at 29% after 15 minutes (104/722 now).

I’m used to waiting for patching when it’s a large chunk of content but it really seems like something is wrong here when a 60mb patch is taking this long to download and apply. Any ideas EHG?

Side note this also happened with the most recent large content update. 320+ MBPS download and the patch downloaded quickly but the diffs took forever. I can download 25GB PoE patches and patch + install them in less than 30 minutes so this seems off.

Edit: took 30+ minutes for the 60mb patch…

Hey…

Assume you are using the standalone version?

If you look at the launcher log file it should give you some indication of what could be happening… Its fairly understandable in its content…

Am also assuming the obvious that nothing else is happening on your machine at the same time? I have had odd issues like this before generally only to realise that a bloody update or something was waiting for a reboot etc and slowing everything else to a crawl.

Using standalone and nothing abnormal happening on the system. In fact this has happened for the last several patches for me.

See that the logs say… Thats the only thing I can offer for now… maybe post it here too…

Seems like it thinks its working fine and the timestamps dont seem to be showing massive delays between tasks…

quick question… Drive Z: is an abnormal drive letter assignment… is this an internal drive or something external? Reason I ask is that you are having long patching delays so if this is on a USB drive or something then that could be playing a role in the patching delay…

Maybe even something like an antivirus etc checking each file and slowing down things?

EDIT: is the output_log also there? It may have more info…
