I gotta be honest with you, it’s enough to keep me from playing because I lose the damn thing so often. For that matter, wouldn’t mind other UI enhancers like that for people like me whose eyes and brain lose sight of things like (like mouse pointers and their own characters) in the visual noise.
I haven’t heard anything about a customisable cursor. However, I am using YoloMouse, so haven’t really cared so much. Now I have a giant bright pink pointer in game.
They already said there are not opposed ot it but there is a technical limitation to it currently.
I think it was something along the lines of a engine limitation. The game can only use the cursor it initially loads up with or something.
I am sure they will find a solution someday, like they always did with stuff that is not as easy and straight forward to implement.
I realize you would like the game itself to address this but in the meantime, you can get a customizable cursor from Steam and launch that before LE or set it to auto do it’s thing etc. I’ve never downloaded anything like this for any online game before but it was becoming mandatory for me and to my knowledge, LE has no issue with it. That was the first thing I looked into.
All that being said, I don’t recall if it’s okay or not for me (forum rules) to mention the one I got by name, so I won’t but you can just google about it. I got this tip from one of the streamers who has a relationship with LE (Aaron, actionrpg) and I was grateful.
Cos you’re right, was losing that lil nondescript cursor all the time and it was infuriating to me.
having this require a reload would be fine compared to having to buy a 3rd party software.
If your issue is just the size, you can change the cursor size in windows and it will translate to LE. You’ll get the default cursor, but however big you want it to be.
Otherwise, like it has been pointed out, it’s a technical limitation for now and not as high on the priority list as other things. It will come eventually, especially because when it comes, like in PoE, it will also be an opportunity to sell more MTX.
Though, as we’ve seen so far, MTX still isn’t high on the priority list either.
omfg it does… Good workaround as any for now, I suppose
Does anyone really know what this priority list is? Because 1.1 won’t mean much if all the same pain points are still there. Lipstick on a pig is the saying. I don’t agree with all the issues people bring up, but not addressing a majority of them (even repeated ones) due to this priority thing isn’t going to bode well. No matter how many pinnacle bosses become available.
There are many games out there that looked fun to me, but that I just couldn’t/didn’t want to play for whatever reason, that didn’t have to do with the content, balance or other lipstick. What generally keeps me from playing games are too many of the not a priority type things, that just add up and make the game more of an annoyance than an enjoyment.
How can there possibly exist any gamers on the face of the planet in 2024 that don’t use YoloMouse?
How can there possibly exist any games on the face of the planet in 2024 that don’t consider GUI and UX?
For real, there are multimillion dollar profit game studios and publishers out there that seem to spend less money on UX than a poor college student spends on ramen. I can appreciate Last Epoch is an indie dev and may not have had the foresight to plan ahead on such things and that the issue simply didn’t come up at a time it wouldn’t have been as technical and time consuming to fix, but there are a frustratingly large amount of games that come out and like you can’t even change keybindings for fuck’s sake, let alone adjust UI elements to improve visibility or any other number of handicap and QOL options. I shouldn’t feel compelled to get YoloMouse or other such programs just because a game I play handles the mouse cursor poorly. Majority of games I play the cursor is fine, anyway, or has in-game UI options for it, assuming it is even a factor. Improvements to accessibility, UI, targeting, HUD, etc. should always be a reasonably high priority for game design devs.
It’s my job to run dev teams, and part of that is prioritizing work. There’s no way I’d have my devs code something that already exists, is free, and does the job.
