My guy you couldnt be more wrong. They upload the game to Steam and Steam distributes the game to the players. Pre-download would mean that, lets say, 3 hours ago it would have been possible to download the new patch for Last Epoch, but it wouldnt be possible to log in to the servers. Then when the clock hits LAUNCH the login servers open, and players will already have downloaded the game.
The reason they arent doing pre-download is because of the offline component. It would allow players to play the game “before launch” by predownloading and then playing offline.
I’m a firm believer that Racing should never be done on the first day of a new league/cycle/season whatever term your game uses.
Even on PoE, which is the best in the market for “launch fairness”, there’s still unfairness involved. The pre-patch doesn’t solve the launch patch update, or the queue for entrance.
It should be tied to registering yourself through the client by clicking a “I want to Race” buttom or something, and one day or two later, when the servers are fine and the login problems have been ironed out, everyone joins a race queue that opens simultaneously for all involved.
Blizzard didn’t have a single bad launch in the last 10 years. Also, they’ve been doing patch pre-loads for years and that hasn’t been an issue. So you are either just hating for no reason or straight up lying.
We were unable to predict that uploading the patch to steam at 9:00 am exactly would result in steam having to verify things on their end, very difficult for us to understand!
New player here so what is the process on launch day? Do I keep force closing the client or will the game eventually let me in If I leave it stuck on the screen after creating my cycle character?
Force-Close Client. Start Game. Select Character.
Step1. Press Play…Press Okay on that Error…
Step2. Press Play…Press Okay on that Error…
Step3. You should know what to do right now
I personally dont play any kind of leaderboard (aka pvp) or anything like that. I play for pure enjoyment and that is all so luckily for me I can just wait.
