An Update on Our Road to 1.0

As long as you keep the communication up and keep making great upgrades to the game, its definitely the right choice. Kudos EHG for having the gusto to only release the game when its ready!

Hop! ( hype Hop ok ?) ^^
Yes no worries guys, continue to do your thing, great work

Thanks for the update and glad you are taking the time to release it when you are happy with how flushed out the game is instead of when others expect it to be released.

I don’t agree 100% with this form of implementation. I feel monster damage should largely stay the same or at most receive a slight buff. Increasing monster HP to compensate for more players is something I’m fine with. I’m not sure there’s another way to keep clear speed even remotely comparable with single player, but I’m open to other ideas.

Here’s where I show my ignorance because I consider party play to already be easier than solo in the majority of cases. I can understand a small radius-based exp buff to encourage players to stay together, but giving out more prizes for playing the arguably easier game mode has always seemed kind of silly to me.

I agree, I don’t think excessive monster damage scaling is the right way to approach this.

At the risk of being a douche: Tough Shit. You don’t need more perks on top of already playing what in most games is the easier game mode. If there is a game where MP is demonstrably harder than solo, then yes, a “challenge bonus” could be considered worthwhile, but it has to be considered more carefully than “welp, the monsters do double damage, let’s drop double the loot” before being implemented.

And the MP fans who push the “you play solo, why the hell do you care what other people get” response to this are a thorn in the ass of gaming. The player experience for solo vs MP should be what is considered by the developers. It doesn’t matter if you never play with another human. Your experience as a player matters.

I think that easier death recovery is an acceptable perk of MP play. I think it’s implemented well in games like Diablo 3 and Wolcen where you can resurrect a dead teammate (and I’ll go a step further and point out I really like Wolcen’s “death token” system, period) and it’s logical in my mind that if you have more players, recovery should be tied to it. I don’t think it should be uncapped (i.e. “corpse zerging” from the EverQuest days) but allowing players to resurrect each other with a finite number of allowable resurrects makes sense.

Awesome, I appreciate the news! Solid game foundation is in your hands, can’t wait to see what comes of it!

good call, no one wants a launch like wolcen :))

It is we, who are extremely grateful to you for the little masterpiece you are making. Take your time I think the ARPG community knows how to be patient, it looks first for quality in the creation and diversity of builds and in this Last Epoch has nothing to envy its competitors.

Keep it up, you’re on your way to making a great game and leaving the price tag at $ 35 is more than fair considering how good the title is for now.

Good luck with the rest of the events!

basically MP oriented content should also have some kind of passable merc AI system or scaled-down single player analog where the drops in SP are still possible to get but a lot more rare. If my build is just off the charts great, maybe that means I can get away with mercs and complete it with reasonably useable companions get the nice drop rate (which will be worse than MP strength), if its iffy I can do the scaled-down SP and deal with a slightly worse drop rate or group up to get those items faster. Either way you don’t want a situation where the only way to get some drops is traditional MP.

Take your time guys. I’ve really enjoyed every patch. You guys design amazing skills and I can’t wait to see what you come up with next.

I am very concerned for masochist in this regards. They might need to just make masochist mode single player only. Not sure how people would react to that, but scaling the difficulty with more damage is really scary in masochist mode.

That’s kinda the point though.

Thank you devs for keeping us updated. I love what you’ve accomplished so far and it shows al lot of promise. Take your time and please make 1.0 awesome. More power to you!

I do worry that with D4 and POE2 in the horizon, you might get overshadowed. I hope your 1.0 release will come much sooner.

I totally agree with you m8!

I share the same concern. Wolcen was considered to be more promissing than Last Epoch, but it launch was absolute madness. I am happy to wait for the completed product.

This is smart. I’m looking forward to the full release.

personally i’m recalling the diablo 3 indecent where on release, multiplayer gave enemies 100% increased health and 10% increased damage per player, and this caused so many issues with survival that they just removed the damage increase and left it at bonus hp, since aoe would affect as many people as were in it anyways.

Oh the disgust that is Diablo 3, from release… til now!*

*:imo

So the initial promise about the price is now broken. All I can say is I won’t be buying this game for 35 $. I hope Diablo 4 comes soon.

Do you guys not have money? You have money right?

I was more referring to a classic blizzcon joke, not intentionally poor shaming someone. But d4 will cost 50/60 bucks in a couple of years so i dont see the reason not to support and enjoy another arpg when you like the genre
